UAE and Kenya discuss strengthening bilateral relations and regional security

Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Mousalia Modafadi, Prime Minister and Secretary of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora in the Republic of Kenya, met to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations between the UAE and Kenya and the chances of consolidating ties between the two peoples and cooperation throughout all fields.

During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the “London Conference on Sudan”, the two sides exchanged views on the current crisis in Sudan and the regional efforts to support a political solution that enjoys the approval of the two parties on the importance of constructive cooperation with partners in Africa, including the African Union and the International Development Authority (Igad).

The UAE also stressed the importance of the African role in addressing regional crises, including in Sudan, and renewed its call to reach an African leadership solution.

Lana Zaki Nusseibeh also reaffirmed “the importance of the African Union’s role in reaching a ceasefire between the warring parties in Sudan, achieving a transitional process and forming an independent civilian leadership.”

It also highlighted the importance of taking international organizations – including the United Nations – a more assertive position regarding the use of humanitarian aid as a weapon against civilians.

The meeting was attended by Mansour Abu Al -Houl, the UAE ambassador to the United Kingdom.
