Sharjah calls for changing the AFC Champions League final in Singapore

The Sharjah Football Club sent an official letter to the Asian Football Confederation, through the Emirates Football Association, calling for a suitable stadium befitting the final match of the “AFC Champions League 2”, which will bring the Sharjah team with its counterpart, Lyon City, Singapore, on May 18 at the “Gallan Bossar” stadium in Singapore.

The Sharjah Club said in a press statement: “In a step confirming its keenness to provide the best organizational and technical formula for the continental event, the Sharjah Football Club administration sent an official letter to the Asian Football Confederation through the Emirates Football Association in which he demanded a suitable stadium befitting the final of the tournament.”

The club added: «This administrative move came from the Sharjah Club immediately after the Singaporean team qualified for the final match, as the board of directors started its coordination contacts immediately in order to ensure the meeting with an ideal environment that keeps pace with the value of the event and the importance of the continental final.

He continued: «This request comes in light of fears related to the Jalan Besar stadium, which hosts the Lyon City matches, as it is a relatively small stadium in terms of mass capacity, and depends on the ground of the industrial grass, which may not be commensurate with the Asian final requirements of this size.

The club explained: «Sharjah Club is waiting for the Asian Federation in this regard during the next few days, in the hope that the importance of holding the final will be taken into account in a stadium in which the technical, mass and organizational specifications that are appropriate to the competition and its clubs will be provided, and enhance the chances of the success of the event in the media and public.
