The Film Authority launches the “Film” initiative to enhance cognitive cognitive content

His Excellency the CEO of the Film Authority, Abdullah bin Nasser Al -Qahtani, said: “Today we take a new step towards enriching the cinematic scene in the Kingdom, not only by providing discreet cognitive content, but by creating a living dialogue environment that opens the doors of discussion and interaction about cinema as an influential cultural and artistic platform.”
He continued: Our goal is not only to preserve the cinematic heritage, but to develop and present it with the latest possible methods so that cinema is an educational and creative tool in the hands of all those who are passionate about it.
He continued: Through this initiative, we open the way for the film community to exchange ideas, discover new horizons in criticism and research, and to be a supportive and inspiring space for a place in various fields.

Film content in Saudi Arabia
In addition to announcing the “Cinema” initiative, the forum witnessed the signing of two memoranda of understanding: The first between the Film Authority and the Radio and Television Authority.
It aims to unify efforts in supporting cinematic content in a way that contributes to supporting national talents, empowering researchers and specialists, and enhancing the Kingdom’s presence in the field of preserving and preserving cinematic heritage.
The second is between the Film Authority and the International Film Federation Film Critics, which aims to cooperate in the field of cinematic criticism and empower Saudi critics through communication, exchange of knowledge and experiences with international critics and participate in international forums and platforms.
In addition to announcing the establishment of the Film Critics Association as the first independent professional entity concerned with cinematic criticism in the Kingdom. The association aims to develop the monetary movement, empower critics, and contribute to strengthening cinematic culture locally and internationally.

Documenting the natural and cultural history of Saudi Arabia
The National Film Archives of the Film Authority shared the details of its existing projects, such as: “Film Deposit” initiative, “Saudi Film Register” and the series “Oral History of the Arab Screen”, the initiative “Documenting the natural and cultural history of the Kingdom” and research and studies concerned with the cinematic and archive sector, in addition to archive initiatives to preserve and restore cinematic films.

The National Film Archives through these projects seek to be a reference destination for filmmakers in the Kingdom, and a center for preserving the national and Arab cinematic heritage and its availability of the film community, the film audiences, researchers and interested.
