Abu Dhabi City Municipality specializes in a blind area on the Abu Dhabi Corniche
Abu Dhabi, April 18/ WAM/ The Department of Municipalities and Transport represented by the municipality of Abu Dhabi City, in cooperation with the Zayed Upper Foundation for People of Determination, has completed a project to allocate and equip an area with an area of 1000 square meters on the Corniche Beach for Families for the Category of the Blind, by equipping it with all the requirements of security, safety and entertainment, in conjunction with the “Year of Society”.
This initiative, which is the first of its kind at the Emirates level, aims to enable the category of the blind and integrate them into society, which reflects and establishes the shared responsibility in building the country, and enhances the continuity of the municipal policy aimed at continuously upgrading the quality of the life of society, and providing facilities with international specifications and compatible, and achieved to the requirements of people of determination, where the beach won the World Union of Disabled Award as a friend of friends Identity.
The municipality of Abu Dhabi City explained that the entertainment and swimming area that was accomplished on the Abu Dhabi Corniche includes many services provided specifically for the blind, including providing a car for people of determination to transport them to the site easily, and to install a guiding board (Braille language) that contains instructions for using the swimming area, and providing a guide for services (in Braille) to provide a comprehensive experience that meets the needs of all Blind of all ages swimming beach pioneers, and other services aimed at making this category happy.
She pointed out that the beach designated for the blind will be open from 6 am to 12 midnight, and the swimming is available from 6 am until sunset.
The municipality affirmed its keenness to adhere to safety standards in designing the region in a manner that is appropriate for this group of visitors, in terms of its components that were specially studied to make the swimming experience for the blind, a safe, safe experience, without any external help, with the presence of the best safety standards, pointing out that the beach provides first aid service through a licensed nurse present at the site along the beach working hours.
