A delegation from the US Congress arrives in Damascus to explore the prospects for strengthening relationships

Syrian media revealed that a delegation from the US Congress arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Friday, on an official visit to the country, the first of its kind in years.

According to the source, the delegation includes Representative Curry Mills, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and MP Marilyn Stotzman, a member of the Financial and Budget Committees in the US House of Representatives.

On the sidelines of the visit, Representative Curry Mills made a tour in the Jobar neighborhood of Damascus.

The delegation’s visit aims to assess the current situation in Syria, and to explore the prospects for strengthening Syrian -American relations. The two deputies will discuss ways to support regional diplomacy, and review the humanitarian and economic impact of US sanctions imposed on Syria.
