After imposing customs duties … details of the first conversation between Trump and Starmer

British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer spoke with US President Donald Trump in the first contact between them since Trump announced 10% fees on all imported goods imported by the United States from Britain.
Starmer and Trump’s phone call touched on “continuous and fruitful discussions” about trade between the two countries, a spokesman for the Starmer office said.

“The Prime Minister repeated his commitment to free and open trade and the importance of protecting the national interest,” the British News Agency (BA Media) quoted a spokesman for the Starmer office as saying.
The two sides also talked about the situation in Ukraine and Iran. In addition to the 10% customs duties, the United States imposed 25% fees on car imports also applies to Britain.
Treasury Secretary Rachel Revis is scheduled to hold talks with the White House next week amid efforts to conclude a trade agreement, which Britain hopes to help reduce the burden of customs duties.
