The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, represented by the religious attaché of the Kingdom’s embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, concluded, on Saturday, the preliminary qualifiers for the largest international competition for memorizing the Holy Quran in the Balkan region, in its third session, which is organized in cooperation with the Islamic sheikhdom in the Republic of Kosova, and in coordination with the embassy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the Republic of Albania.
2350 contestants and contestants from 22 countries are participating: Kosova, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Czech, Cyprus, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Estonia, Belgium, Ukraine, Georgia, Russia, Belarusia, and San Marino.

The largest Quranic competition

The final qualifiers qualified 160 contestants and contestants, and their competitions will be held during the period from 8 to 11 May 2025 AD, in the Kosovan capital, Brichatina, where they compete in five branches: memorizing the entire Qur’an, memorizing ten parts, memorizing five parts, memorizing two parts, reciting five parts, all with good performance and intonation, and the value of the total prizes of the competition is 500 thousand riyals, while estimated The financial cost of the competition is about 1.2 million riyals.

The Grand Mufti of the Republic of Kosova and the head of the Islamic sheikh, Sheikh Naim Tarnafa, thanked the Kingdom for its continuous support, noting the projects and programs offered by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, to spread the moderate moderate Islam method and consolidate the values ​​and teachings of the Qur’an in the hearts of Muslims in the Balkans in general, and in Kosova in particular.

Care for the Holy Quran

Mufti Kosova explained that the Kingdom’s support for this competition reflects the pivotal role that it plays in caring for the Holy Qur’an and teaching it, and enhancing the spirit of competition in its preservation and recitation between the emerging generations, asking God Almighty that the competition achieve its desired lofty goals.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs organizes many international, regional and local competitions for memorizing, reciting and interpreting the Holy Qur’an, in coordination with religious attachés in a number of countries and supervised by a group of international arbitrators specialized in arts and science of readings.
