Al -Zyoudi: The UAE continues its leadership and competition for the global trade map

Abu Dhabi, April 20/ WAM/ His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, said that the UAE under the guidance of its rational leadership continues its leadership and competitiveness and seizes advanced positions on the World Trade map, which was confirmed by the World Trade Organization report issued entitled “Horizons and Statistics of World Trade.”
His Excellency added in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM” that the UAE has maintained its first sites since 2014 within the countries of the Middle East and Africa to trade with the world and within the 20 adults among the most important commercial centers of goods and services globally … indicating that the services trade contributes 20% of the Emirates trade with the world.
He attributed the significant growth of the UAE foreign trade to economic openness and attracting investors to the country, flexible policies and legislation and the comprehensive economic partnership agreements program, all of which were factors that formed a network of linking between the UAE and the countries of the world in addition to enhancing the role of semi -governmental companies and the private sector that plays a pivotal role in the trade movement in a way that enhances the position of the UAE as a center for global trade .. indicating that the foreign trade movement of the UAE continues to achieve qualitative leaps as it indicates indicates that it indicates it indicates that it indicates as it indicates as it indicates as it indicates as it indicates as it indicates as it indicates as indicates Initial estimates to a growth rate of 25% during the first month of this year 2025.
His Excellency said that the UAE has been in the list of major digital services exporters globally during 2024, which reflects the continuous development of this vital sector … noting that the sectors that witnessed growth in the services trade included the sector “financial, hospitality, information and transportation with growth rates ranging from 9% and 14%”.
According to the World Trade Organization report, expectations indicate that the volume of global merchandise trade will decrease by -0.2 percent in 2025 in light of the current customs tariffs before it recorded a modest recovery in 2026 by 2.5%.
The organization expected that the services trade, which is not directly subject to customs tariffs, will also be affected with the growth of the global services trade by 4.0 percent in 2025 and 4.1% in the year 2026, despite the achievement of the trade of global commodities by 2.9% in 2024 and services by 6.8%, accompanied by growth in the global gross domestic product by 2.8%.

The value of commodity exports increased by 2% to reach 24.43 trillion dollars and services by 9% to reach 8.69 trillion dollars, and the services sector contributed 26.4% of global trade, which is the highest share since 2005.
