المملكة: Production of 750 million rose in 2024 and we target 2 billion in 2026

The sustainable agricultural rural development program, “Saudi Arabia countryside,” launched a week -long media campaign, and aims to shed light on sectarian roses as one of the most important agricultural and heritage products of economic value in the Kingdom.
This campaign comes within the framework of the program’s efforts aimed at raising societal awareness of the importance of this vital sector, enhancing the role of local farmers, and encouraging the consumption of national products extracted from this luxurious product.

Aromatic roses

The Assistant Secretary -General of the “Saudi countryside” program for media and communication, Majed Al -Braikan, confirmed that sectarian roses are among the most prominent types of aromatic roses in the world, and it is classified among the three best types in terms of quality and smell.
He stressed that during 2024, the production of sectarian roses exceeded 750 million rose, while the program aims to raise production to 2 billion rose by 2026, noting that the areas planted with it exceeded 346 hectares, with an expansion plan to cover more than 275 additional hectares.

Tissue

Al -Braikan explained that the program worked to distribute 2000 tissue cultivation seedlings to raise production capacity, as well as support five new distillation laboratories to enhance the efficiency of oil extraction operations.
Micro -irrigation networks have also been introduced to reduce water consumption by up to 30 percent, as well as adopting organic fertilization techniques, which contribute to improving soil quality and enhancing production sustainability.

Direct investments

Al -Braikan added that the “Saudi countryside” has allocated 135 million riyals as direct investments within three years, to implement 14 development projects covering the various stages of production and support, such as nurseries, laboratories and clinics, with the aim of supporting value chains and achieving sustainable rural development in line with the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.
It is noteworthy that sectarian roses are characterized by high quality and a unique smell that made it classify among the three best types of aromatic roses in the world.
