المملكة: Urgent: Sudan… An Emirati approach exacerbates the humanitarian crisis and supports RSF crimes

The criminal attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces led to the death of more than 24 civilians, including women and children. It also caused damage to relief facilities and convoys in the states of North and South Kordofan, and comes as an extension of the criminal behavior pursued by the Rapid Support Militia, which targets civilians, women and children. The attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces on the Kwaik Military Hospital reflect the continuation of the Rapid Support Forces in committing crimes against Civilians, which has continued during the past two years. The crimes of the Rapid Support Forces include the destruction of residential areas, the burning of villages, murder, torture, rape, and other forms of sexual violence, the destruction of property, looting, and other horrific crimes against civilians. The Kingdom demands that the Rapid Support Forces immediately stop their violations against civilians, women and children, and adhere to their moral and humanitarian duty to secure the arrival of relief aid. For those in need in accordance with international and humanitarian laws, and what was stated in the Jeddah Declaration (Commitment to Protect Civilians in Sudan) signed on May 11, 2023 AD. The Kingdom also reaffirmed its position calling for the unity, security and stability of Sudan, the necessity of preserving its legitimate institutions, and its rejection of external interference and the continuation of some parties in bringing illegal weapons, mercenaries and foreign fighters into Sudan. Abu Dhabi’s standing behind the Rapid Support Forces, arming them with the latest combat equipment, and providing logistical supplies and foreign mercenaries, represents a major and direct reason for carrying out criminal acts targeting civilians, children and women in Sudan, fueling internal fighting and turning the situation in Sudan into the worst humanitarian disaster in its modern history. The UAE intervention contributed to prolonging the war by disrupting any real opportunities for a political solution, as an armed party cannot obtain support. The UAE continues to engage seriously in a settlement process. The UAE’s irresponsible approach has also exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the spread of mass killing, forced displacement, the collapse of basic services, and the transformation of millions of civilians into victims of a conflict fueled by external parties. Arming militias and bringing in foreign mercenaries represents a flagrant violation of the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states, which makes the UAE an unreliable party in the path of any political settlement since it is part of The problem, not the solution.
