The sky of the Kingdom and the Arab world is witnessing one of the most beautiful annual astronomical phenomena, as a texture of the meteors of guitaries is active in the period between this evening, and until the dawn of tomorrow, and this phenomenon is monitored with the naked eye in the sky of the Arab world away from the sources of light pollution.
The head of the astronomical association in Jeddah, Eng. Majid Abu Zahra, explained that the meteors of guitaries reaches the peak of its activities today at 4:30 pm Saudi time, a period during which meteors cannot be seen due to daylight, noting that the best monitoring times will be during the hours of dawn Wednesday, where it is expected that meteors will fall at a good rate when monitored from a dark location away from the lights of cities.
And Abu Zahra, that the meteor radiation point begins to appear over the northeastern horizon around 9 pm, and it is the highest height in the sky during the early hours of the morning, where the best monitoring times is between 03:00 and 5:00 am local time.

The President of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah indicated that guitaries are one of the oldest well -known meteors, as its first views date back to about 2700 years, and this dirt is active annually between 16 and 25 April, and it is caused by the passage of the earth through the dusty remains left by the comet of the Tanchis (C/1861 G1 Thatcher), indicating that it is characterized by its speed of about 49 km per second, and is famous With the production of very bright and rapid meteors, and sometimes light coins may leave a glowing effect behind it that remains visible for a few seconds.
Abu Zahra added that the usual average of meteors during its peak is about 18 meteors per hour in perfect monitoring conditions, with a rare possibility for a sudden increase of up to 100 meteors per hour, which is not expected this year.
