The launch of the Greater Hunting Championship for Al -Kanad 2025

Abu Dhabi, April 25 / WAM / The Grand Yas Greater Hunting Championship 2025, which will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, will continue until April 27, with the participation of more than 1750 fishermen distributed over 375 boats, including 24 boats for the women’s category.
The championship is the third round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Championship for Hunting Al -Kaad, organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. Ireland, the Philippines, Yemen, Uzbekistan and Palestine represent 27 boats of participating boats.
The participating boats started from three main points: Abu Dhabi (222 boats), the port (58 boats), and the island of Dalma (96 boats), towards the fishing areas specified in the waters of the Arabian Gulf.
Sheikh Muhammad bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan said that the launch of the Greater Yas Hunting Championship represents an extension of the impressive success achieved by the championship in its first and second rounds, and embodies the continuous growth in the demand for the sport of cassading, as one of the most prominent heritage maritime activities in the UAE.
He added that this tournament is not only contributing to preserving the marine heritage, but also strengthens Abu Dhabi as a regionally and globally leading naval destination.
He continued: “We are proud to see this great diversity in the participating nationalities, which reflects the position of Abu Dhabi as an attraction for marine sports lovers from different countries of the world. We look forward to continuing to develop this type of marine sports in line with the vision of the wise leadership in supporting the marine heritage and targeted community activities.”
He stressed that the tournament comes in line with the “Society Year 2025” initiative, noting that this event contributes to enhancing the spirit of societal cohesion, and supporting the initiatives that bring together members of society on a firm ground of national heritage and identity.
For his part, His Excellency Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, said that the Greater Yas Hunting Championship represents an extension of our authentic marine heritage, and an embodiment of our wise leadership’s interest in preserving traditional hobbies and enhancing their presence among new generations.
His Excellency pointed out that the Abu Dhabi Hunting Championships are witnessing an increasing demand from the participants in each round, which reflects its success in achieving its sports, cultural and tourism goals.
Through this tournament, keenness stressed the establishment of the values of originality and responsibility, and highlighting the position of Abu Dhabi as a center that embraces heritage activities of a societal nature, in a way that contributes to promoting national identity and promoting the rich marine heritage of the UAE.
The start of the tournament witnessed in front of the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, a number of personalities, officials and representatives of the supporters, including Youssef Amin Youssef, Vice President of the Institutional Support for ADNOC Group, Abdul Rahim Al -Battah, representative of the Abu Dhabi Media Network, Majid Abdullah Al -Muhairi, Vice -Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and Ubayd Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Abu Dhabi Greater Hunting Championships.
The launch was also attended by a number of representatives of government and private agencies, including representatives of the Court of the Ruler’s representative in the Al -Dhafra region, the National Meteorological Center, the Environmental Authority – Abu Dhabi, and the leadership of the National Guard, as well as representatives of sponsoring companies.
