The United Nations: The situation in Gaza reached the point of collapse and the destruction of the infrastructure threatens the lives of millions

Since the ceasefire, specifically during the past week, the Israeli attacks have escalated on the Palestinians, killing a large number of civilians and increasing the risk of complete destruction of the remaining limited infrastructure.
The tragic living conditions of civilians worsened due to the orders of displacement and the complete Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip, which led to the suspension of the flow of vital and necessary aid that civilians strongly need.
The collapse point again
On the food situation, the World Food Program explained that he handed over the last food items to the hot meals kitchens in the Gaza Strip. Food is expected to run out of these kitchens completely in the coming days.
For weeks, hot meals kitchens were the only source of regular food assistance in Gaza. Although it reaches only half of the population and only 25 percent of the daily nutritional needs, it has provided a very important life artery.
The World Food Program warned that the situation inside the Gaza Strip reached the point of collapse: the ways to acclimate to running out, and the fragile gains that were achieved during a short shooting stop. Unless urgent measures are taken to open the crossings to enter aid and trade, the World Food Program may have to end its vital help.
The World Food Program urged all parties to give priority to the needs of civilians, allowing aid to enter Gaza immediately and fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law.
The exacerbation of social turmoil
In a statement today, Friday, the Human Rights Office stated that the full closure imposed by Israel on Gaza, and the prevention of life -saving aid to civilians – including food and fuel – has now entered its eighth week.
The bakeries stopped working due to a lack of flour and cooking fuel; The basic food prices are high; Israeli attacks at sea continue to destroy the fishing industry in Gaza. As food aid stops, the remaining stocks in the Strip decrease rapidly, exposing the sector’s residents, especially weak groups and children, at an increased risk of starvation.
With the increasing despair of the population due to the scarcity of food and other vital supplies, social turmoil deepens, with repeated reports on the outbreak of conflicts within society that includes the use of firearms.
This occurs in an environment in which the judicial system and the system of implementing the law systematically destroyed due to Israeli attacks and the targeting of civilian officials in the local administration.

Civil notable targeting increases the risk of diseases
The Israeli army also continues to target the necessary civilian objects for the survival of the civilian population, according to the United Nations Office for Human Rights.
In the period between 21 and 22 April, the Israeli army launched deliberate and coordinated attacks across three governorates in Gaza, destroying 36 heavy instruments, including excavations, water trucks and tanks of wastewater suction.
These machines were used by the municipalities of Gaza in humanitarian relief operations, such as removing rubble, distributing water and maintaining biological sewage systems.
According to the Human Rights Office, the destruction of these vehicles is likely to hinder rescue operations significantly, including the recovery of the wounded and the dead from under the rubble, the removal of debris to allow the movement of ambulances, as well as providing safe drinking water, hard waste collection, and operating sewage networks – which increases the risk of disease outbreaks.
The UN office warned that the deliberate attacks on civilian notables – that is, notables that are not used in military actions and whose destruction does not provide a specific military advantage at the time of the attack – is illegal and constitutes a war crime under international humanitarian law.
Specous risk of gender -based violence
On the relevant level, the United Nations Population Fund stated that nearly 50% of the displaced and affected population in the Gaza Strip are women and girls.
The United Nations Office for Human Rights estimates that approximately 70% of a number of those killed in Gaza between 7 October 2023 and March 31, 2025 were women and children.
With the continued deterioration of opportunities for food, water, shelter and medical care, the United Nations Population Fund expressed urgent concerns about the survival and safety of civilians – especially women and girls. In light of these conditions of severe deprivation and fear, the risk of gender -based violence has increased significantly.
The displaced women have expressed deep concerns about their personal safety and the safety of their families, and many of them indicated that the lack of privacy, safe toilets and safe places to shower is a great concern for protection and health.
Overcrowding, long -term power outages, water and food shortages have led to the strains of family dynamics, increased tensions and gender -based violence.

A renewed wave of violence throughout the West Bank
In parallel, the settlers and the operations carried out by the Israeli security forces in the West Bank continue to kill or injure the Palestinians, and forcibly displacement of their homes or shelters in many areas, according to the Human Rights Office.
On April 23, it was reported that Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians and their properties in the Khirbet Al -Tal area in the village of Single, Ramallah, which resulted in the injury of eight Palestinian youths and the destruction of three agricultural buildings.
Over the past week, the Israeli security forces killed three Palestinians who were throwing stones, including two children. Thus, the number of children killed by the Israeli security forces in the West Bank has risen since October 7, 2023 to 192 children.
Meanwhile, the large -scale operation entered the northern West Bank, where the Israeli security forces continue to prevent the Palestinians from returning to their homes in the refugee camps in Jenin and Tulkarm, and carry out large -scale destruction operations accompanied by the creation of roads and barriers inside the camps, and launched daily raids on Palestinian towns and villages.
As this process continues day after day, the possibilities of the Palestinians in the damaged camps are diminished to return to their homes, which threatens the permanent displacement of the Palestinians from the main population centers in the West Bank, which amounts to “forced transport” according to the Human Rights Office.
