Sharjah Reading for the child ": Writing for children requires attracting attention, with pictures, plot and style

Sharjah, on April 26 / WAM / two specialists in the field of child literature emphasized that there are basic criteria that must be adhered to in writing for children to ensure that their attention is attracted and linked to reading from a young age. Among those criteria is to rely on the image before the written text and choose a story that has a plot, content and purpose as well as relying on the attractive dialogue method and note their impressions of it.
This came during a dialogue session entitled “Writing as a way to care for mental health” within the activities of the sixteenth session of the Sharjah Reading Festival for the child currently held at the Expo Center Sharjah with the participation of the Bahraini writer in the field of child literature Khalaf Ahmed Khalaf and writer Krina Battle from the United Kingdom.
Krina Battle said, I focused on writing my fiction and writing on health, mental and emotional care for children, especially those who suffer from autism, as I sought to provide colored drawings and comprehensive books that integrate others in this case because the pictures come before words for children and from here I worked to present a book full of color, especially since the color has a huge impact on the emotions, which reflects an important matter for them and makes them feel the positive state and interest.
For his part, the Bahraini writer Khalaf Khalaf stressed that writing for the child should be like writing for adults, meaning that a story that has a plot, a content and a purpose is determined, then it begins writing and reviewing it in proportion to the vocabulary and mentality of the child, but in the first place there must be a plot and a kind of persuasion in the child in order to coexist with the atmosphere of the story and thus affect it.
In a related context, the choir of “The Spirit of the East” was presented on the main stage at the Sharjah Reading Festival for the Children, a musical evening with a privilege titled “The Golden Generation” that combined originality, creativity, vitality and interaction.
