“Internet” disturbance in Morocco and Algeria due to the interruption of Spain and Portugal electricity

On Monday, the interruption of Spain and Portugal electricity caused the disturbance of Internet service at Orange, a telecommunications company in Morocco, according to a declaration of its customer.
The company, a branch of French Orange, said in its Facebook account: “We inform you that the Internet disorder is due to a wide electrical interruption in Spain and Portugal, which affected international ties.”
The two competing companies, the communications of Morocco and the intelligence, did not issue any declaration in this regard.
Likewise, the Moroccan authorities did not refer to any effect of the electricity interruption in the two Iberian neighborhoods on the Kingdom.

Algerian efforts to continue services

In Algeria, also the Ministry of Post and Wireless Transport announced on Monday afternoon the possibility of “disturbances in the Internet service in the coming hours”, “due to the general power outages that touched Spain and other European countries.”

But she added in a Facebook statement: “Nevertheless, we would like to reassure you to take preventive measures to ensure the continuity of services for a specific period of time.”

Electricity interruption in Spain

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior announced today the state of emergency after most of the Iberian Peninsula witnessed a power outage.
The ministry stated that the state of emergency will be applied in the areas where it is necessary.
The cities of (Madrid, Andalusia and Extremadora) asked the central government to take over the public order in it.
In the same context, Spanish Minister of Transport Oscar Bennett indicated that the medium and long distance trains in the country will remain out of service today.
This is due to the power outages throughout the country, despite the restoration of electricity in some areas.
