المملكة: Details of the meetings of the New Zealand New Zealand Committee in Auckland

The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al -Fadhli, chaired the Saudi side in the meetings of the ninth session of the Saudi New Zealand Joint Committee, which concluded its work in Auckland today, while the New Zealand side, the Minister of Trade and Investment Todd Maclai, headed, with the participation and presence of members of the two official delegations in the two countries.
The two sides noted the development of the two countries’ commercial relations, and the achievements of the eighth session of the committee held in Riyadh on March 6 and 7, 2022 AD.

The meeting dealt with the implementation of the free trade agreement signed between New Zealand and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the outputs of the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Winston Peters to Riyadh February 2025 AD, as well as discussing ways to develop trade cooperation and support investments, and enhance investment opportunities in the fields of food security, agricultural technology, the environment, industry, and energy.

The two sides agreed to activate work mechanisms in order to achieve the goals of the General Agreement for Economic and Cultural Cooperation between the Kingdom and New Zealand, facilitate and improve trade and bilateral relations in all fields, exchange experiences, enhance the commercial and investment environment through intensifying commercial meetings and visits, raising the volume of trade exchange, economic cooperation, increasing investments, raising the level of communication between private sectors, as well The common concern between the two friendly countries.

Food security

During the visit, the Minister of the Environment and the accompanying delegation made a tour that included the port of Harbour Cruise, the “Fontera” dairy products, and the Karaka Horses farm, in addition to the Oakland University to explore scientific research related to food, energy, biotechnology, drug and space techniques.
The tour also included the fostering region of fostering food companies, to see the latest New Zealand innovations in terms of food security.
It is noteworthy that the volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom and New Zealand amounted to (881) million dollars during the year 2023 AD, with a growth rate of (25%) since 2019.
