Al -Murr pointed out, in his intervention, that the fame of “One Thousand and One Nights” that we know today was not present since the appearance of the text more than 1400 years ago, but rather came thanks to the efforts of the French orientalist, Anton Gallan, who translated the work into French, and then its translations spread into English and German, and it became one of the most frequently traded and popular texts.

He explained that the text captured the imagination of the painters and artists who created thousands of drawings inspired by its stories such as “Aladdin and the magic lamp” and “The Wind Basta”, then its effect later moved to the cinema and modern media, adding that one of the most prominent characteristics of the work is its dependence on the framework and the drama of the entrance that combines violence, suspense and wisdom through a strict series of stories that influence millions around the world.

Dr. Mohsen Al -Mousawi about his association with the text since his doctorate’s thesis in 1981, pointing to his book “One Thousand and One Nights in English Literature: Falling in the Circle of Magic.”

He said that the unique narration structure in “One Thousand and One Nights”, where every story gives birth to another story, was a fundamental renewal in the methods of literary narration, noting that the characters in this work do not stop when drawing features but rather move in an endless series of verbs.

He added: “The conversation is a life, silence is death, and the structure of working on this deep equation is based, as the stories continue to generate through the succession of events and personalities.” The writer and critic Abdo Wazen emphasized that “a thousand and one nights” were disputed by three cultures, and it has been for centuries that arouses the interest of critics and scholars around the world. He explained that the uniqueness of the text does not lie only in the fairy tales, which exist in most peoples, but in the ingenuity of the narration technique within the narration, or “the novel within the novel”, which is the innovation that the first French critics pursued in its analysis after the release of Gallan’s translation in the year 1701, which made “One Thousand and One Nights” a milestone that left a profound impact on modern global literature.
