Approving the results of the third session of the “Sharjah Prize in Public Finance”

The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Prize in the Public Finance held its coordination meeting to evaluate and adopt the final results of the files participating in the third edition of the award in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Administrative Development of the League of Arab States, in a move that reflects the award’s commitment to the highest standards of governance, transparency and professionalism in the arbitration process and the selection of winners.
The meeting, which was held in the presence of the President of the Prize Board of Trustees, Salem Al -Qusayr, the Director General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development and the Vice -President of the Board of Trustees, Nasser Al -Hatlan Al -Qahtani, in the context of completing the approved evaluation and arbitration stages, as the Board of Trustees reviewed the results of the individual and institutional groups of the award within its various categories, and discussed the results of the technical evaluation conducted by the specialized arbitration committees according to accurate criteria that were developed in coordination with the Arab organization For administrative development, in line with the best Arab and international practices in the field of government financial excellence.
The third session of the Sharjah Prize in Public Finance witnessed a wide participation from various Arab countries, where the institutional groups: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Tunisia, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco, Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain, and Sudan, through entrepreneurial initiatives and projects in developing government financial performance and adopting the best practices of governance and transparency.
As for the individual groups, a group of professional competencies and expertise from the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, Tunisia, and Palestine competed, where the winners of the first three places were honored for each category in appreciation of their prominent contributions and their efforts in enhancing the efficiency of institutional work and developing policies and financial procedures in their countries.
“The award represented in its third session a new station in the process of government financial excellence,” said Salem Al -Qusayr, Chairman of the Prize Board of Trustees. Al -Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. We are proud that the award has become an Arab reference to honor innovation and efficiency in managing public money.
For his part, Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of the Department, Secretary -General of the Sharjah Prize in Public Finance, confirmed that since its inception in 2016, a leading platform for spreading a culture of excellence in government financial work, and consolidating the concepts of effective institutional performance, noting that the award succeeded in motivating institutions and individuals to adopt leading financial practices, and to adhere to the criteria of efficiency and governance And transparency.
He pointed out that the third session of the award witnessed a qualitative shift represented in adding 6 new categories at the institutional and individual level, to become the total categories of the award 22 category, distributed evenly between 11 institutional categories and 11 individual categories, which reflects the expansion of the award and the diversity of its fields, in line with the rapid developments in the public financial sector.
The Director General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, Vice -President of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Nasser Al -Qahtani, stressed that the partnership with the Emirate of Sharjah in organizing and evaluating the Public Finance Award is an advanced model for Arab cooperation in supporting the principles of governance, transparency and government excellence. He added: “The evaluation of the participating files came based on clear methodologies and standard comparisons, and the arbitration process was implemented according to the best practices followed, which gave the award high credibility and made it a professional platform that supports institutional development trends in Arab countries.”
During the meeting, the General Secretariat reviewed the items listed on the agenda, where the ongoing preparations for organizing a ceremony honoring the winners, scheduled for next May in the Emirate of Sharjah, were reviewed, in addition to discussing the proposals of expanding the award and targeting a broader segment of the parties participating in the next version.
