" Abu Dhabi Book" It reviews 50 milestones in the modern Arabic novel

Abu Dhabi, May 2 / WAM / The “Community” platform witnessed within the activities of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, a qualitative dialogue session entitled “Fifty Marks in the Novel of the 21st Arabic Century”, highlighted the most prominent challenges and standards in choosing the best contemporary Arab novels, within the framework of a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language and the National National newspaper, aimed at crystallizing a qualitative map of the Arab narrative scene in the pillar of the century Twenty.
His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Director of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, Dr. Haitham Al -Hajj Ali, Professor of Modern Arabic Literature and Criticism, and Dr. Muhammad Abu Al -Fadl Badran, well -known critic and academic, were attended by the journalist Saeed Saeed from The National.
In his opening speech, Al -Tunaiji stressed that the Arab literary scene is witnessing a remarkable development and increasing attention by other languages and cultures, pointing out that the launch of this project from the heart of the Abu Dhabi Book Fair is an exceptional event that brings together multiple intellectual spectrums, and reflects the center’s commitment to provide a comprehensive critical perception of the modern Arabic novel.
Al -Tunaiji stressed that the choice of the best Arab novels in the twenty -first century is a real challenge in the absence of a clear institutional critical reference, pointing out that literary awards, despite their importance, do not represent a sufficient criterion for evaluating business, but that the evaluation requires a systematic effort to monitor the cultural and artistic impact away from the media noise and transient impressions.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Abu Al -Fadl Badran indicated that the novel has today become the most attractive literary race for the Arab reader, considering that the audience is the real separation in judging the quality of the text. He stressed that blogs and digital platforms contributed to expanding the base of the readers, and restoring interest in the works close to the pulse of reality and the experiences of people, while the effect of poetry in expressing the transformations of the Arab street declined.
In turn, Dr. Haitham Al -Hajj Ali stressed the importance of this project in documenting the features of the development of the Arabic novel, praising the initiative of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language in this regard.
He pointed out that the prizes were and still are a catalyst for the growth of the novel from its beginnings, citing the experience of Naguib Mahfouz, who was winning the award for “The Group of Hearts of Damesharadashiya”, a starting starting point in his literary career.
Al -Haj Ali pointed out that the new digital environment and the spread of social media created an unconventional space for the emergence of innovative narrative patterns, reviewing the experience of “Riyadh Girls” novel as a model for a novel that was launched from an electronic blog and achieved a remarkable presence in the Arab and international scene.
At the end of the session, Al -Tunaiji stressed that the “Kalima” project of the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic, plays a strategic role in promoting cultural exchange, as the center translates works from more than 23 languages into Arabic, and also launched a reverse path to translate contemporary Arabic literature into multiple languages, in a move aimed at expanding the cultural impact of Arabic literature.
He explained that the identification of fifty prominent novels of the twenty -first century is a complex process compared to the choice of classical works that imposed itself over time, stressing that the contemporary literary scene still needs a founding critical accumulation that secretes works and puts it within a clear critical framework that keeps pace with the transformations of writing and reading grace.
