Syria condemns: Israeli bombing of Damascus is a “dangerous escalation”

On Friday, Syria considered the recent Israeli bombing of Damascus as a “dangerous escalation” against it, while Israel announced a raid on a region adjacent to the Presidential Palace in the Syrian capital, renewing the transitional authority against the threat of the Druze minority, despite the return of calm after bloody clashes that caused more than a hundred people in two days.
“War planes raided … on the area adjacent to the Ahmed Hussein al -Sharaa Palace in Damascus.”
After the raid, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a joint statement with Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, “This is a clear message to the Syrian regime. We will not allow the deployment of (Syrian) forces south of Damascus or the threat of the Druze community in any way.”
In a statement, the Syrian presidency condemned this bombing, which she said affected the presidential palace, saying that it “constitutes a dangerous escalation against state institutions and their sovereignty.”
She added that this “condemned attack reflects the continuation of the reckless movements that seek to destabilize and exacerbate security crises, and targets national security and the unity of the Syrian people.”
The Qatari Foreign Ministry, for its part, condemned the raid, which was considered a “aggression that traveled to the sovereignty” of Syria.
Saudi Arabia also condemned the Israeli air strike, “renewed its categorical rejection of the Israeli attacks” targeting Syrian sovereignty, security and stability.
The United Nations Secretary -General Antonio Guterres also condemned “Israel’s violations of Syria’s sovereignty,” adding that “it is necessary for these attacks to stop and that Israel will respect Syria’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and independence.”
