Airlines ticket prices in May … the lowest since the beginning of this year

Managers and workers in travel agencies said that the prices of airline tickets have declined to their lowest levels since the beginning of 2025 for direct flights, from the UAE to Arab destinations, such as Cairo, Alexandria, Oman and Beirut, during this May.
They added to «Emirates Today» that the prices of flights are 20% lower in May, compared to the average in the first four months, in light of the new seat capacity that entered the market, and the additional flights for the aircraft, as well as a decline in the level of demand for travel compared to the months of January, February and March, expecting that the prices will rise again at the beginning of June, with the approaching Eid Al -Adha holiday and the next period, and with the start of school holidays and the summer season Tourist.
Ticket prices
In detail, the CEO of Dubai World Travel Company, Badr Al Ahly, said that “the prices of airline tickets during this May witness some decline compared to the first months of this year, by offering airline companies promotional offers, and entering more seat capacity to the market,” noting that “demand for travel is also an important indication of the average ticket prices.”
Al -Ahly added that “on the basis of the annual comparison, we find that the average prices since the beginning of this year, at the same levels compared to last year,” noting that the frequency of demand for travel is still strong to various destinations, and trips record high occupancy rates, stressing that “early reservation, and benefit from the available offers, can provide passengers with excellent opportunities to travel at reasonable prices.”
Strong request
For his part, the CEO of STS said in the Dubai Link Group, Salah Mansour, that “the demand for travel is still strong, but he witnessed a kind of decline compared to the levels of recent months, which was reflected in the decline in the average prices for air flights during this May, for the most demanding Arab destinations, such as Cairo, Oman, Beirut, Alexandria and others.”
Mansour added: “Airlines ticket prices from the UAE decreased to a number of Arab destinations this May, which allowed travelers distinguished opportunities to travel at prices lower than the rates of past months.” He pointed out that there is a segment of travelers that take advantage of this opportunity to make short visits, or benefit from them to travel on weekends.
He continued: “On the average prices are less than 15 and 20% compared to the past months, but compared to last year’s levels we have not seen a significant change, given the continued pace of strong demand for travel,” noting that prices will rise at greater rates at the beginning of next June.
Flights
In turn, the Director General of Al -Faisal Agency for Travel and Tourism, Yassin Diab, said that “the prices of flights for Arab destinations, such as Cairo, Oman and Beirut, are 20% less compared to the average prices in the first quarter of this year,” noting that May is the least cost to travel since the beginning of this year.
Diab stated that during this period airlines seeks to offer promotional offers, to encourage the demand for travel, and to raise the rate of flights to the highest possible percentage, pointing out that “the flights are witnessing a strong demand, as evidence that the prices, on an annual basis, do not witness major changes, and they are still at high levels.”
He advised passengers to verify the offers available on various airlines sites, and compare prices before the reservation, to ensure that the best deals and possible advantages are obtained, pointing out that “promotional offers are tight with conditions that must be read.”
He continued, “The decrease in prices is normal in this period, which is a transitional period between two seasons, the first was crowded during the period between January and March, and the second will start with the Eid al -Adha holiday and school holidays.”
Diab pointed out that the prices are likely to rise again at the beginning of next June, in conjunction with the Eid al -Adha holiday, and the next period in light of the school leave, and the start of the summer travel season with most of the state’s population, adding that “the prices of flights for this period and the summer season are gradually increasing, and therefore it should be planned in advance to travel this summer.”
He said: “Regional destinations are witnessing a remarkable congestion in reservations during the summer season, which naturally leads to a gradual and continuous rise in ticket prices.
