The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, Indonesia, selects a guest of honor its 35th session

Abu Dhabi, May 5 / WAM / The management of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair announced, at the end of its 34th session, today, the selection of the Republic of Indonesia, the guest of honor of the next 35th session, in a move that reflects the commitment of the exhibition, organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, to open up to the cultures of the world and enhance the bridges of cultural communication between peoples.

The new guest of honor was announced, during an official ceremony that brought together culture and symbolic ceremonies, and witnessed the transfer of the honorary shield from the Caribbean countries – the current guest of honor – to the Republic of Indonesia, in an unprecedented tradition between book fairs in the region.

The delivery and delivery ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, His Excellency Hussein Bagis, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the state, His Excellency Rensu Herrera Franco, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic, His Excellency Diaa Rahman Consul General Greenada in Dubai, along with His Excellency Anda Rondi Estoi, Director General of Diplomacy, Promotion and International Cooperation at the Embassy of Indonesia, and a constellation of intellectuals Writers and thinkers from around the world.

Dr. Ali bin Tamim said that the “Guest of Honor” program, since its inception, was more than just a window to the cultures of the world, but rather a dedication to an inherent principle in the Emirati vision that coexistence is not a slogan, but a daily practice, titled “Dating”, and its content is that every culture carries in its essence an invitation to dialogue and openness.

He added: “The tradition that we are witnessing today in the delivery and receipt of the shield of the state of honor from one culture to another confirms that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is not an individual event, but rather a space in which visions intersect, and cultures meet in a permanent dialogue, and a creative convergence.”

He explained that the exhibition, by hosting countries from all over the world, deepens the idea that culture is not reduced to language alone, but rather includes lifestyles, paths of thought, and human dates.

He continued: “We were pleased this year to celebrate the Caribbean culture, and today we proudly announce that the Republic of Indonesia will be the guest of honor of the next session.”

His Excellency Anda Rondi Estoi expressed her country’s pride in this honor, saying: “We thank those in charge of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which is no longer just a platform for displaying books, but has become a cultural bridge linking peoples, and reformulating the meaning of humanity through the pages of books.”

She added: “The choice of Indonesia as a guest of honor for the next session confirms the depth of cultural relations between our two countries, and also reflects our common belief in the importance of literature, knowledge and heritage in building societies.”

She emphasized that Indonesia, with more than 17 thousand islands, and more than 250 million people, carries in its fabric a huge civilized diversity, making it a model of tolerance and cultural integration.

She pointed out that the translation rates between the Indonesian and Arabic languages ​​are witnessing an increase in recent years, especially in the areas of thought, religion and literature, which enhances cultural exchange between the two countries.

It is expected that the 35th session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, in partnership with the Indonesian side, will bear a rich cultural program that highlights the features of the Indonesian literature, art and thought, and highlights the convergence between the Emirati and Indonesian cultures, as a complement to the message that the exhibition has adopted since its inception to make culture to get acquainted with dating, dialogue, and renaissance.
