Turkish intelligence thwarts a plan to send “Peg” booby -trapped to Lebanon

Turkish intelligence managed to thwart a plan to send the “Peg” booby -trapped “People” devices to Lebanon, according to the newspaper “Sabah”.

She added that «the Turkish National Intelligence Directorate received a report stating that the shipment of appeal devices similar to those that exploded in Lebanon (17-18 September last), to Istanbul, on a flight from Hong Kong on September 16, carrying 850 kilograms of goods, and was to be sent to Lebanon, on September 27.

She explained that «the shipment is prepared food, but explosives experts at Istanbul Airport examined them, and it was found that the boxes of these foods contain 1,300 Gold Apollo Automated Blinks with charger, and 710 charger for laptops, cables and batteries.

The shipment was handed over to criminal evidence experts for the examination, where they found that they resemble the automated call devices and the radio that exploded in Lebanon, and “an explosive material weighing 3 grams in the battery block and recalling devices could be found that can explode when receiving a strong signal … and explosives were found in laptops,” according to the newspaper.

Soon after Istanbul Airport officials raised the alarm about another plane carrying a shipment from Taiwan that was supposed to be sent to Beirut, but no explosives were found during the inspections.

The owner of the Turkish company that received the shipment was interrogated, but the doubts against him were not confirmed.

Last February, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump, gifted a golden “Peter”, to remind the operation against Hezbollah.
