7 new road projects in Dubai this June

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai revealed its integrated operational plan to implement seven development projects and wide packages of urgent and permanent traffic improvements during the month of June, most notably the addition of a traffic lane on Sheikh Zayed Road for those coming from Hessa Street towards Abu Dhabi, as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to develop the infrastructure, improve the efficiency of the current road network, and achieve the highest levels of traffic flow and safety in various regions of the emirate, keeping pace with rapid urban and population growth, and enhancing the quality of daily life and smooth and safe transportation. For all residents and visitors.
In detail, Dubai Roads explained in its monthly report on new projects that the projects targeted for this month are distributed geometrically and geographically to include local traffic improvement works, the expansion of vital road lanes, and the opening of new arteries and connecting bridges, aiming to facilitate movement between various regions.
According to the timeline and data received, the Authority will implement this package through successive and sequential stages throughout the current month, to ensure the continuity of traffic without affecting road users.
The Authority will begin its field projects on the 10th of June, by beginning the implementation of comprehensive traffic improvement works at the entrance to Nad Al Sheba Council. These works aim to increase the efficiency of vehicle flow to and from the area surrounding the Council, and reduce waiting times at peak times. On the 12th of the same month, the Authority will also implement qualitative traffic improvement works at the intersection of Trade Center Street and Marassi Drive.
As part of the rapid engineering solutions to increase the capacity of the main arteries and reduce pressure on the strategic axes, the Authority will, on June 22, add a full traffic lane on Sheikh Zayed Road, designated for vehicles coming from Hessa Street and heading directly towards the capital, Abu Dhabi, which will prevent overlapping traffic lanes and smooth traffic flow.
On June 27, the Authority will implement an integrated traffic improvement package on the collector road at the intersection of Airport Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, to ensure smooth traffic for arrivals and departures from Dubai International Airport and its surrounding areas. In the last days of this month, the authority is implementing a strategic opening plan to connect the new residential complexes. The 28th of June will witness the opening of the street linking Emirates Road and Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Street, which will play a pivotal role in serving and facilitating traffic for residents and visitors of the Villanova and Reference 3 complexes. On the same day, the street linking Al Qudra Street and Hessa Street will be opened, directly and effectively linking the “Dubai Studio City” and “Dubai Motor City” areas, which contributes to shortening daily travel times by proportions. Note, providing alternative and convenient routes for drivers.
The Authority will conclude this month’s work on June 30, by adding a new traffic lane on Latifa Bint Hamdan Street, in conjunction with providing engineered U-turns in both directions, to enhance traffic flexibility and freedom of safe turning.
The authority confirmed that its development projects are proceeding at a steady and deliberate pace to provide innovative and smart solutions that keep pace with the aspirations of Dubai and its residents, and support the emirate’s march towards being at the forefront of global cities in terms of flexibility of movement and sustainable quality of life. The Authority stated that the development of infrastructure also aims to keep pace with the rapid changes in the transportation system, by adopting the highest international safety standards and applying the best engineering practices that guarantee Dubai visitors an exceptional and safe transportation experience throughout the year and at all times.
