Europe is preparing to respond to Trump with customs duties with 100 billion euros

The European Union is preparing to impose fees on US products worth 100 billion euros in response to the customs duties imposed by Donald Trump, in the event of negotiations, according to European diplomats, Agence France -Presse on Wednesday.
The US President announced an additional 20% imposition on most imports from Europe, but he suspended the application of this until July in an attempt to reach a negotiating solution to the commercial conflict.

At the present time, the basic additional fees are still 10% announced by Trump applied to the goods that the European exports to the United States, while Washington is imposed on steel, aluminum imports and European cars additional fees by 25%.

The European Union hopes to reach an agreement with the United States to avoid a trade war, but it wants to be ready to respond if negotiations fail.

European diplomats said that the European Commission, which manages the commercial policy of the continental bloc, informed member states last week that it would target American goods of 100 billion euros in response to additional fees by 20% if there is no agreement.
The initial list of targeted products is scheduled to be published Thursday. According to the Financial Times, the list will include Boeing aircraft.
The Commission and Boeing refused to comment on the British newspaper information.

The European Union Commercial Commissioner Marus Sivkovic told the European Parliament this week that 70% of the total cluster exports are subject to knowledge of between 10% and 25%.
He warned that in light of the ongoing trade investigations in the United States in various sectors such as wood or medicines, “about 549 billion euros of European Union exports to the United States, or 97% of the total exports, may be subject to fees.
On Tuesday, the general manager of the European Airbus Aircraft Company expressed hope that the aircraft issued by its rival Boeing to Europe will be subject to customs duties if Trump’s acquaintances were applied.
