Abu Dhabi, May 8/ WAM/ The Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Center for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, launched a “Abu Dhabi Standard for Business Continuity for Health Care Activity.”

This step comes within the framework of the efforts made to make the Emirate of Abu Dhabi a model to follow a global implementation of business continuity by establishing a detailed standard, and the development of the business continuity management system for health care services.

The criterion aims to enable health care and ambulance services to ensure the continuity of its business in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and to establish an integrated care model that focuses on the patient, by coordinating and providing appropriate care for critical emergency situations with the use of appropriate experiences without interruption.

The criterion aims to reduce health care interruptions as a result of emergency, crises and disasters, enhance patients’ safety, visitors and work teams in health care services, and improve the continuity of health care through pre -hospital services, diagnosis and treatment.

His Excellency Matar Saeed Al -Nuaimi, Director General of the Center for Emergency, Crises and Disaster Management of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, affirmed the center’s commitment to continuing its relentless endeavors in order to develop the emergency, crisis and disaster management system, and to contribute to enhancing the flexibility and sustainability of the health sector in the emirate.

He pointed to the importance of developing integrated and comprehensive criteria that contribute to securing the continuity of vital processes and services, and ensuring the safety of patients in all circumstances, in line with the center’s strategic priorities to ensure the readiness of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in emergency and crises, and consolidate its pioneering position in this regard.

His Excellency said that the health and welfare of the population is vital for us in line with the vision of the Abu Dhabi government to secure an ideal social life for the population, and its constant keenness to ensure the continuity of business in health care activities, by enhancing compliance with organizational and legislative requirements through the optimal application of it by the relevant authorities in the health sector.

He pointed to the role of this criterion in enhancing the ability of the health sector, noting the importance of establishing a flexible system to manage business continuity to ensure the sustainability of health services even in times of emergency, crises and disasters, and enabling health care providers to adapt to various emergency conditions and changing needs.

For her part, His Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al -Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Health Department – Abu Dhabi, said that Abu Dhabi has made a great way to enhance the readiness of its health system and ensure the sustainability and the continuity of its services, and its position has established among the most innovative and flexible destinations in the readiness of the emergency and health crises.

The importance of cooperation between the Health Department – Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health with the Emergency and Crisis and Disaster Management Center for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to launch the Abu Dhabi Business Standard for Health Care Activity, aimed at enhancing the readiness of health facilities in the emirate to ensure the continuity of providing care services, as well as achieving integration between the parties concerned and unifying response frameworks, and working to improve the operational flexibility to enhance the ability to recover quickly from crises Without affecting the quality of health services.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi recently opened the Center for the Unified Medical Operations Command, which is being operated under the management of the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center in cooperation with a number of medical authorities and institutions from the public and private sectors, and works to enhance cooperation and coordination between the various parties and concerned parties, and it forms a major body to manage the emergency management and add an important to the health care sector in the emirate, contributes to preserving public health and improving readiness to emergency and response capabilities she has.
