In light of the Kingdom’s interest in the affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, the road network connected to the holy places is available from multiple parties, and the roads play a pivotal role in serving the guests of Rahman from the neighboring countries of 8 countries.
Despite the vast geographical area of the Kingdom, the General Authority for Roads has paid attention to the development and design of these methods with the latest specifications, equipped with advanced traffic systems of lighting and signals, to ensure safety and comfort for the pilgrims of the Sacred House of God of various nationalities, and these efforts embodied the extent of the Kingdom’s interest in facilitating the journey of Hajj and Umrah and providing all means of comfort to the guests of Rahman.
10 main roads
10 main roads are available by the pilgrims of neighboring countries, as the pilgrims of the State of Kuwait use two roads, the first is “Al -Khafji – Al -Na’iriya – Riyadh – Makkah Al -Mukarramah” with a length of 1473 km, and the second “Al -Raqqi – Hafar Al -Batin – Al -Majma’a – Makkah Al -Mukarramah” with a length of 1277 km.
As for the pilgrims of the United Arab Emirates, they use the “Al -Batha – Salwa – Al -Hofuf – Riyadh – Taif – Makkah Al -Mukarramah” road, which is 1514 km long, and the pilgrims of the State of Qatar take the road “Salwa – Al Hofuf – Riyadh – Taif – Makkah Al -Mukarramah” with a length of 1385 km.
While the pilgrims of the Kingdom of Bahrain cross the King Fahd Bridge, which links them to the city of Khobar, then they head to Riyadh and then to Makkah, through Taif.
The total road distance is estimated at 1266 km.
Methods of Hajj Jordan and Iraq
On the northern side of the Kingdom, the pilgrims of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan take two main roads, the first starts from the “case of Ammar” through Tabuk and then Medina to Makkah Al -Mukarramah, with a length of 1219 km.
As for the second road, it starts from the modernity and the commissions and then a knife, to reach Mecca, through Medina, and the total distance of the roads is estimated at 1545 km.
While the pilgrims of the Republic of Iraq take a “New Arar – Arar – Sakaka – Al -Madinah Al -Munawwarah – Makkah Al -Mukarramah road, with a length of 1579 km.
Southern Roads
South, the pilgrims of the Republic of Yemen take the path of “Al -Wadia – Najran – Abha – Makkah Al -Mukarramah”, which is 1372 km long.
While the pilgrims of the Sultanate of Oman use the Empty Quarter Road, “Umm Al -Zomoul – Al -Batha – Salwa – Al -Hofuf – Makkah Al -Mukarramah” with a length of 2150 km.
Application of safety standards
From an early age, the Roads Authority began preparing for the Hajj season this year, by overseeing the process of surveying the road network leading to the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah, with the aim of ensuring that all safety and quality standards are applied to these roads, by carrying out abstract operations and asphalting in a number of sites.
In addition to wiping and refining the shoulders of the roads, removing sand dunes, cleaning the valleys.
Raise the level of readiness
Efforts include ensuring the integrity of concrete and metal barriers, and guidance and warning paintings, and these efforts contribute to raising the level of safety and readiness on the road network, achieving the goals of the road sector strategy, which are to reach the sixth classification globally in the road quality index, and reduce the number of road deaths to less than 5 cases per 100 thousand people.
The authority also aims to cover the road network with traffic safety factors in accordance with the classification of the international road evaluation program, and to maintain an advanced level of services for the road network absorption.
These efforts come within the framework of enhancing the interconnection of sacred feelings in all regions, and to improve the experience of the guests of Rahman.
