Sports federations in the Emirates… ambitious strategies to enhance international achievements (8)

Abu Dhabi, June 20 / WAM / The country’s sports federations continue to implement their ambitious development plans to enhance the Emirati presence in various continental and international forums, by investing in national talent, raising the efficiency of the teams, and adopting advanced preparation programs that are in line with the goals of the National Sports Strategy 2031.

This report comes within a series of weekly reports published by the Emirates News Agency, WAM, to review the plans and strategies of national federations in discovering talent, spreading various sports, and creating champions capable of achieving more achievements.

In this context, the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation continues to implement its programs aimed at developing various equestrian disciplines, by organizing championships and qualifying national cadres through specialized courses in judging and development, in a way that keeps pace with the latest international practices and enhances the prestigious position that the country occupies in this sport.

The UAE hosts various competitions in endurance, show jumping, and peg-picking. The summer show jumping league organized by the federation at the Boudhib Equestrian Academy and the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club has contributed to building a strong base of young talent, which has proven its great value by participating with the national teams in foreign tournaments.

The UAE has achieved global leadership in organizing and hosting the Longines Nations Show Jumping League, with the participation of 10 international teams, and under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation, as part of 4 successive editions that the country won the right to host during the period from 2024 to 2027.

Dr. Ghanem Mohammed Al Hajri, Secretary-General of the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation, confirmed that the Federation’s strategy aims to qualitative development, the global leadership of the UAE in equestrian sports, and the search for best practices that contribute to maintaining indicators of development in all technical and administrative fields, in addition to consolidating the country’s position in hosting international events.

He also stressed the federation’s keenness to work with partners in organizing various events, to cooperate with villages, clubs and centers specialized in aspects related to development, and to strengthen its partnerships with federations, institutions and international bodies, with the aim of supporting the country’s position in hosting international tournaments and a distinctive sports interface for international events, with the best professional practices.

For its part, the UAE Table Tennis Federation continues to implement its plan for the current session until 2028, which focuses on attracting investments, expanding the base of practice, and encouraging clubs to include the game among their approved activities, in addition to supporting girls’ clubs and enhancing the participation of communities residing in the country in the activities and events organized by the Federation.

The Federation also implements programs to spread the game nationwide and support the participation of promising players from different age groups in foreign tournaments, which contributes to raising their international rankings and enhancing their competitive experience, in light of the presence of a promising base of players.

Rashid Abdul Hamid, a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Table Tennis Federation and Director of the National Teams, said that the Federation, in cooperation with clubs and partners, is implementing development programs aimed at strengthening the base of the game at different age levels, and giving young players opportunities for contact and competition, in a way that supports plans to prepare national teams during the coming years.

He added that the Federation’s strategy focuses on discovering talent in the country, refining and developing it for the future, and developing the capabilities of the national teams, in addition to organizing local tournaments and participating in international competitions to support the classification of players, with a focus on creating an Olympic champion capable of representing the country in the Olympic Games in the future.

The UAE Bowling Federation works within a strategy aimed at preparing a new generation of male and female players, and enabling young players to represent the country in international forums, by developing skills and refining capabilities through continuous participation in foreign tournaments at various levels.

The Federation’s agenda during the coming period includes participating in the World Youth Championship in Malaysia from June 27 to July 7, the World Cup in Germany in October 2026, the Asian Championship in Qatar in November 2026, in addition to the Arab Championship scheduled for Cairo next December.

Ahmed Khamis Al Ali, a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors and director of the national teams, said that the current stage is witnessing the joining of a group of promising young players to the ranks of the men’s national team, including Hamad Ahli, Hassan Ahli, Rashid Al Marzouqi, Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Hamad Al Marzouqi, and Mansour Hassan, who are between the ages of 17 and 19 years, as part of a long-term preparation plan aimed at developing their capabilities and raising their readiness to compete in international tournaments.

He pointed out that the federation places the development of the women’s national team among its priorities during the next stage, after a group of young female players gained good experience over the past years, and have become more ready to represent the country in the upcoming competitions, stressing that the federation continues to strengthen the game system through specific plans, strategic partnerships, and cooperation with the concerned authorities, clubs, and specialized centers.
