The Foreign Minister’s envoy concludes a visit to Canada to enhance bilateral cooperation

ABU DHABI, June 20 / WAM / His Excellency Engineer Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Canada, concluded an official visit to Canada during which he held a number of meetings and discussions with senior officials and representatives of the business community, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations between the UAE and Canada, and discussing broader areas of economic and investment cooperation in priority sectors.

The visit program included meetings with a number of Canadian ministers, including His Excellency Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, where the two sides reviewed the progress witnessed in bilateral relations.

His meeting with His Excellency David McGinty, Minister of National Defence, also discussed the importance of developing defense cooperation in areas of common interest.

His Excellency also met with His Excellency Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, where they reviewed opportunities to increase the volume of trade exchange and provide broader paths for Emirati and Canadian companies to benefit from the available opportunities.

In the same context, His Excellency Al Mansouri discussed with His Excellency François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance, prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of investment and financial services.

In the field of future technology, he discussed with His Excellency Ivan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, areas of cooperation in advanced technologies, digital transformation, research and development, and the safe use of artificial intelligence.

His Excellency Al Mansouri participated in the meetings organized by the Emirati-Canadian Business Council, and in the roundtable meeting held in the presence of His Excellency Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, where the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and ways to build partnerships between public and private sector institutions in the two countries were discussed, in addition to reviewing preparations for the Canada Investment Summit, scheduled to be held next September.

At the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency Al Mansouri stressed that the discussions that took place confirmed the joint keenness to build on the momentum witnessed by the UAE-Canadian relations, and to continue working with partners in the Canadian government, the private sector and investment institutions to review more practical initiatives and projects that contribute to strengthening the bilateral partnership and serve common interests.
