Korea records a surplus in the current account for the 23rd month in March

On May 9/ WAM/ Central Bank’s data showed today, Friday, that the Republic of Korea has achieved a surplus in the current account for the twenty -third month in a row last March thanks to the rise in exports.
The Korean “Yonhap” news agency reported that the country’s running surplus of $ 9.14 billion in March, after the surplus of 7.18 billion dollars last February, according to data issued by the Central Bank of Korea.
She added that by this the country recorded a surplus in the current account monthly since May 2023, and the commodity account recorded a surplus of $ 8.49 billion in March and exports increased by 2.2% year on year to $ 59.31 billion, and imports increased by 2.3% on an annual basis to 50.82 billion dollars.
On the other hand, the services account recorded a deficit of $ 2.21 billion due to the high demand for travel abroad, while the basic income account, which tracks the wages of foreign workers, profit distribution payments from abroad, and benefits revenues, recorded a $ 3.23 billion surplus in March.
