China’s consumer price index increases 0.1% in April

BEIJING, on May 10 / WAM / The National Statistics Authority said today that the consumer price index in China, a major scale of inflation, decreased by 0.1% on an annual basis last April, while the basic consumer price index, which excludes food and energy prices, increased by 0.5% on an annual basis.

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index increased by 0.1% during last April, after it decreased by 0.4% during its previous March.

Dong Li Joys, the chief statistics of the National Statistics Authority, said that the monthly recovery was mainly driven by the consumption of food and travel, and that some sectors showed signs of recovery, supported by the strong basics of the Chinese economy and its ability to withstand, as well as the coordinated implementation of policies.

Food prices decreased by 0.2%on an annual basis, the prices of non -food commodities remained unchanged, and consumer goods prices decreased by 0.3%, while services prices increased by 0.3%.

During the first four months of this year, the average consumer price index for China decreased by 0.1% compared to the same period last year.
