The United Nations welcomes the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan

The Secretary -General had expressed the great concern – on the sixth of this month – regarding the Indian military operations through the international control and border line. He called for the utmost military restraint from India and Pakistan.

Earlier this month, Guterres stressed the need – especially during this critical time – to avoid military confrontations that may easily be out of control. He said: “Now is the time to exercise the utmost restraint and stay away from the brink of the abyss.”
