Mohammed bin Zayed and Trump witness the launch of the first phase of the 5 GB AI complex in Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him and Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, witnessed today at the Palace of Al -Watan in Abu Dhabi, the announcement of the inauguration of the UAE -American AI complex with a capacity of 5 GB, which is the largest of its kind outside the United States, as part of a state visit by the American President to the UAE.

This complex will host American companies capable of benefiting from the capabilities to provide regional computing services with the ability to serve the global southern countries, and also provides a capacity of 5 gigawatts for artificial intelligence data centers in Abu Dhabi, which creates a regional platform that enables giant American companies to provide quick services for nearly half of the world’s population.

This complex will be used upon its completion, nuclear energy, solar energy and gas energy, to reduce carbon emissions, and will also include a scientific center that contributes to pushing the innovation wheel in the field of artificial intelligence.

G42 will build this complex and operate it in partnership with several American companies.

This cooperation is based on a new framework between the governments of the United Arab Emirates and the United States, called “the partnership of accelerating artificial intelligence between the United States of America and the United Arab Emirates”, to enhance cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

The UAE and the United States will work together to organize and benefit computing services, as it is intended for huge computing manufacturers and provides accredited cloud computing services in the United States.

On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Board of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology, said that the complex represents a model for continuous and constructive cooperation between the UAE and the United States of America in the field of artificial intelligence, and it embodies the UAE’s commitment to enhancing the prospects for innovation and global cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, which establishes the state’s position as a pioneering center for research Advanced and sustainable development, and achieves the interest of all humanity.

For his part, Howard Lottenic, USA Minister of Trade, said that the complex launches a historical partnership in the Middle East in the field of artificial intelligence between our two countries, and enhances large investments in advanced semiconductors and data centers throughout the United States and the UAE, noting that American companies will operate data centers in the UAE, and provide cloud services managed by the American party throughout the region.

He added that by expanding the global leading American technology group to include an important strategic partner in the region, this complex is an important achievement in achieving President Donald Trump’s vision aimed at strengthening the role of the United States in the field of artificial intelligence.

It is noteworthy that the UAE is working to adopt artificial intelligence techniques in government sectors and business sectors, as it is the first country to appoint a minister of artificial intelligence in 2017, and in 2019 it established a specialized university for artificial intelligence, Mohammed bin Zayed University for AI.

The UAE was also one of the first countries to launch a national strategy for artificial intelligence in 2017, which is the UAE strategy for artificial intelligence, and the UAE is on its way to become a global center for artificial intelligence.

This ambitious vision is one of its priorities to integrate artificial intelligence into the vital sectors, including education, health care, transport and energy, which enhances the role and status of the state as a pioneer in the global scene of artificial intelligence.
