The Arab League will organize a meeting tomorrow to follow up the implementation of the sustainable development goals 2030 in the field of culture

Cairo, May 20 / WAM / The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Social Affairs Sector – Culture and Civilization Dialogue) organizes a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, to follow up the implementation of the goals of the 203030 Sustainable Development Plan in the field of culture, in conjunction with the celebration of the International Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, which falls on May 21 of each year.

This meeting comes within the framework of the Arab League celebration of the International Day announced by the United Nations General Assembly in 2002, during which UNESCO adopted in 2001 the “global declaration of cultural diversity”, in recognition of the importance of culture as a basic pillar to achieve prosperity, sustainable development and global peaceful coexistence.

The meeting aims to discuss ways to activate a number of cultural goals included in the sustainable development plan, foremost of which is the goal of spreading a culture of peace and violence, and the goal of protecting and preserving cultural and natural heritage, in addition to the goal related to enhancing international and regional cooperation in the fields of science and technology and exchanging knowledge.

Representatives of the relevant Arab, international and regional organizations and regional organizations will participate in the meeting, within the framework of efforts to enhance cultural coordination and the integration of joint Arab action in the field of sustainable cultural development.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Arab League organizes a cultural exhibition that includes posts from a number of non -Arab countries such as Japan, China, India and a number of African countries, with the aim of highlighting the richness and diversity of cultures through shows that include folk food, jewelry, fashion, plastic arts, cultural versions, and aspects of material heritage.
