المملكة: On his international day, Imam Turki Reserve supports beekeeping and honey production
The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority confirmed its continued efforts in supporting the beekeeping sector and natural honey production, by providing an ideal environment that embraces this vital activity, and contributes to enhancing food security and environmental sustainability.
On the occasion of the celebration of the International Bees Day, which falls on May 20 of each year, she explained that the reserve is witnessing annually 3 main seasons for high -quality honey production, including: the spring flower season, the talha season, and the Sidr season.
These periods are the peak of activity for beekeepers who go to the reserve, due to its unique vegetarian diversity, low pollution rates and humidity in it, which reflects positively on bee health and the quality of productive honey.
Custom and safe sites for bee cells
The authority provides dedicated and safe sites for bee cells, away from the sources of environmental threat, as part of a rich vegetable cover that includes talha, Sidr and wild flowers, which gives honey unique nutritional properties and a distinctive taste that reflects the diversity of natural pastures.
In the context of supporting local communities, the authority is working to enable the beekeepers through training programs and specialized workshops, in addition to encouraging their participation in tourist seasons and local events, in a way that contributes to enhancing their economic opportunities and increasing the spread of their products at the local and national levels.
These initiatives embody the commitment of the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Reserve Development Authority to support sustainable environmental activities and preserve biological diversity, in harmony with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision and its efforts towards the development of sectors related to the environment and the green economy.
