The Prime Minister meets the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Director of the International Monetary Fund

On the sidelines of his participation on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in the 2025 Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met this evening, on the sidelines of the sessions of the first day of the summit, with both  Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Kristina Georgieva, Director of the International Monetary Fund, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs.

During the Prime Minister’s meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, a number of aspects of the existing partnership and cooperation between Egypt and the United Nations and its affiliated agencies were discussed, in addition to a review of Egypt’s preparations to host the International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza.

Antonio appreciated Guterres, the tireless efforts made by the Egyptian state, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in working to bring peace to the region.

Within the framework of the meeting with Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Kristina Georgieva, the position of the Fund’s program with Egypt was reviewed, in light of the imminent visit of the International Monetary Fund mission early next December, to conduct the fifth and sixth reviews, and a number of positive indicators that the Egyptian economy is currently witnessing, in particular In terms of the size of the cash reserve, the increase in private sector investments, and the high growth rates, especially in the productive sectors
