The UAE displays its literal heritage in Moscow

Dubai, May 22 / WAM / The UAE is participating in a national wing for the first time in the sixth edition of “Moscow Week for Interior Design”, which started today and will continue until May 25 in the Central Hall of Exhibitions “Manig”, with the participation of more than 1,100 Russian and international companies specialized in the design and manufacture of furniture and decoration.

The Emirati pavilion, which is held with the support of a “Heritage Council for Contemporary Crafts”, includes an exhibition that highlights a modern re -interpretation of the heritage of Emirati handicrafts, through contemporary designs that include handicrafts carried out by Emirati craftsmen, as well as lamps and utensils of clay and oratory glass, and coated steel chairs, and tropical fruit baskets.

His Excellency Reem Bin Karam, President of a heritage council and expert in cultural entrepreneurship, as a major spokesperson, participates in a session entitled “Investing in Heritage Again”, which will be held today, as it highlights the role of the Council in enabling women to acquire technical skills, enter global markets, and build sustainable projects that depend on traditional crafts.

His Excellency Reem bin Karam emphasized that the council contributed to converting handicrafts into successful commercial projects that received international recognition in prestigious events such as “Design Miami”, “London Design Festival” and “Milan Design Week”, noting that these posts have strengthened the position of Emirati crafts on the international scene.

The current session of the exhibition is witnessing the participation of 45 companies and designers from 15 countries, including China and the UAE, which are attending two national wings that show internal products inspired by nature, which is the main theme for this year.

The event also includes an international session in cooperation with the Moscow Center for Export, with the participation of 50 Russian companies and 10 importers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Morocco, with the aim of strengthening trade relations and concluding export contracts and implementing joint projects.

The Moscow Interior Design Week is the most prominent specialized event in the design sector in Russia since its inception in 2022, and aims to support furniture, decoration, interior and exterior solutions, and consolidate its position as an industrial reference in the region.
