The 35th session of "Sharjah Theater Days" It begins on March 24 with the participation of 14 theatrical performances

Sharjah, 17 March / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the activities of the 35th session of “Sharjah Theater Days” will begin on Tuesday evening, the 24th of March, with the participation of 14 theatrical performances, and in the presence of an elite group of artists and researchers from across the Arab world.

Ahmed Burahima, Director of the Theater Department at the Department of Culture and Director of “Sharjah Theater Days”, confirmed that the festival has become, thanks to the support and vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, a pioneering cultural event that celebrates Emirati and Arab theatre, and contributes to enhancing the creative movement, in addition to its role in building bridges of intellectual and artistic communication through specialized seminars and forums.

He explained that the patronage enjoyed by Al-Ayyam since its founding in 1984 has contributed to consolidating its position and developing its achievements, and placing it at the forefront of Arab theatrical activities.

He pointed out that the program of the new session includes theatrical performances, intellectual seminars, and cultural evenings, with the participation of artists and specialists from the Gulf countries and the Arab world, in addition to organizing honorary meetings, within the framework of the Department of Culture’s keenness to continue developing this cultural event.

The session’s activities will open at the Palace of Culture Theater with the performance of the play “The Fugitives” by the Tunisian National Theater Troupe, which won the “Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi Award for Best Arab Theatrical Work,” organized by the Arab Theater Authority.

The opening ceremony will witness the honoring of the Kuwaiti artist Muhammad Jaber, winner of the Sharjah Award for Arab Theatrical Creativity in its nineteenth session, in addition to honoring the Emirati artist Jamal Al-Sumaiti, in his capacity as the honored local figure, and the director of the work, Wafaa Al-Taboubi, will receive the award for the best Arab theatrical work for the year 2025.

The committee for viewing and classifying the performances selected seven works to compete in the official competition out of 11 submissions, while four other works will be shown within the parallel program.

The competition’s jury includes an elite group of specialists in the theatrical field from a number of Arab countries.

The session’s program also witnesses two performances from the Kalba Short Play Festival, within the framework of the artistic diversity offered by the festival.
