Guterres confirms the lack of participation in any plan that does not adhere to the humanitarian principles in Gaza: We have a detailed relief plan

In press statements at the United Nations headquarters on Friday, Guterres said that the United Nations and its partners have a detailed practical plan based on principles and supported by member states consisting of 5 stages to connect relief to the population in need in Gaza.

And separated these stages by saying:

  • Ensure aid delivery to Gaza,
  • Inspection and examination of aid at transit points,
  • Transfer aid from crossings to humanitarian facilities,
  • Preparing aid for distribution,
  • And the transfer of aid to the needy.

The Secretary -General emphasized that the United Nations has the necessary work and delivery of aid, individuals, distribution networks, related systems and societal relationships.

He said that supplies are sufficient to fill 9,000 trucks waiting for the sector to enter. He directed an appeal to provide life -saving aid to the residents of Gaza, whose suffering has been affected, and he said: “Let’s do this correctly, and do it immediately.”

The Secretary -General reaffirmed the necessity of permanent stopping to shoot and release immediately and without conditions for all hostages and ensuring full human access.

The risk of starvation

Guterres said that the Palestinians in Gaza are going through what could be the most severe stage in this harsh conflict, noting that Israel, over 80 days, prevented the entry of international relief to life to the Strip.

He also pointed to the integrated classification of the food security stages, which was found that all Gaza population faces the risk of starvation. He said that families are starving and deprived of the simplest basics, under the eyes of the world.

He stressed that Israel bears clear obligations under international humanitarian law, and that civilians must be dealt with humanitarian with respect for their inherent dignity. He added: “(Israel) should not be forcibly transferred, displaced or displaced the civilian population in occupied land. As the occupying power force, it must agree to allow the required aid to be available and facilitate.”

The Secretary -General indicated that a small amount of aid recently entered Gaza. He said: “In recent days, about 400 trucks were approved through the Kerem Abu Salem crossing, but only 115 trucks were brought in, and nothing has reached the besieged north.”

Guterres confirmed that work is underway around the clock to deliver aid to where people need, noting that these efforts are taking place in light of the continuation of the military operation. He said that all the aid that was approved to be entered so far is comparable “A teaspoon of help, while the need requires a flood of aid.”

The Secretary -General of the United Nations referred to the strict (quota) shares imposed on the goods distributed by humanitarian agencies and unnecessary delays, and preventing the entry of basic supplies such as fuel, cooking gas, shelters and water purification materials.

Honorable human access will lead to the life of more people

Antonio Guterres said that the United Nations continues to demand safety and security measures regarding aid convoys, adding that “The life of our employees is at risk if we continue to be prevented from distributing food parcels and wheat flour directly to people whose need is intensified.”

Without these measures, and in the absence of the rule of law and the spread of despair among the population after months of closure and insufficient supplies, the risks of security incidents and looting increases.

Guterres indicated that the Israeli military attack escalated with horrific levels of murder and destruction. He stated that 80% of the Gaza area is classified as military sites or areas of the population to leave.

The Secretary -General said that more people will die and the long -term consequences for all the population will be dire, if the urgent, safe and sustainable human arrival is not allowed.
