Representatives of 30 countries participate in the Artemis Conventions Workshop in Abu Dhabi to enhance space cooperation

Abu Dhabi, May 26/ WAM/ The UAE, represented by the Emirates Space Agency, hosted a workshop on Artemis Conventions, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) on May 21 and 22, with the participation of representatives of more than 30 countries out of 55 countries signed on the agreement, which confirms their joint commitment to support space exploration in a peaceful, transparent and sustainable way.
The workshop aimed to enhance the principles of peaceful and responsible exploration of space, discuss ways to enhance joint commitment to transparency, exchange data, protect space heritage, and ensure sustainability in outer space environments.
The sessions included deep discussions on the mechanisms for implementing the basic principles of Artemis Conventions, including the principle of non -interference, promotion of inter -employment, reduction of space debris, exchange of scientific data, and registration of space objects, as well as awareness efforts.
Representatives of countries also participated in a simulation exercise to test possible future scenarios, in order to enhance joint and effective coordination in space tasks.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Balah Al -Falasi, Minister of Sports, Chairman of the Emirates Space Agency, stressed that the UAE’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation and exploring responsible space reflects the fundamental values on which Artemis agreements are based.
His Excellency added that through this workshop, we affirm our endeavor to build a peaceful, transparent and sustainable space for future generations, explaining that with the increase in space activities at the world level, an urgent necessity to develop international cooperation frameworks that are in line with this accelerated growth, and Artemis Conventions are a model for this trend, where the principles of space exploration based on openness, peace, peace, peace, and peace, are established, peace, peace, peace, peace, peace, peace, peace, and peace, and peace, and peace. The Abu Dhabi workshop represents an extension of a series of previous meetings held in Poland and Canada in 2023 and 2024, a major platform for exchanging best practices, addressing the space sector challenges, and promoting collective commitment to sustainable space exploration.
The Artemis Conventions, launched by the United States of America in 2020, with the participation of seven countries, including the United Arab Emirates, is an undisputed international framework aimed at enhancing cooperation in exploration of civil space, and directing it towards more sustainable and secure operations, in line with relevant international treaties, including the outer space treaty, the spacecraft registration agreement, and the agreement to rescue and restore astronauts.
