Sharjah Special Education Authority revealed the results of the third session of the “ITM” program for the academic year 2024-2025, which aims to review the quality of private schools, after the team in charge of evaluation carried out a series of field visits that included 86 schools from 10 different curricula, which included class visits, a review of school documents, the attendance of various student and school activities, and a variety of meetings with teachers and school leaders and analysis Results of opinion polls in which 40,838 guardians, 44,810 students and 5,698 teachers participated.
The “Iqan” program aims to ensure the commitment of the private schools to the Emirate of Sharjah to the quality standards approved in the context of the country’s school control and evaluation standards in the country, and to enhance the effectiveness of its educational and administrative performance.
This course was targeted by 43 schools that have a “good” classification in the 2022-2023 course, and 37 schools that have a “acceptable” classification in the 2023-2024 course, in addition to six new schools, while the first round of the program started from 4 to 28 November 2024, with the evaluation of 33 schools at a rate of 10 schools per week, then the authority resumed the second round from January 20 to February 20, 2025 to include 53 schools Others.
The results resulted in five schools obtaining a “very good” classification, 53 schools on a “good” rating, and only 28 schools on the “acceptable” classification, while no school recorded a “weak” classification or “very weak”.
The results showed a qualitative improvement in the performance of private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah compared to 2018, as the percentage of schools that obtained a “very good” and “good” evaluation increased. 79 schools got a “good” level in 2025 compared to only 7 schools in 2018, while 14 schools got a “very good” level in 2025 compared to only one school in 2018. The schools that obtained a “acceptable” level also witnessed a decrease from 68 schools in 2018 to 28 schools in 2025. No school was classified in the “very weak” or “weak” category, which reflects the great improvement in the quality of education in private schools in the emirate.
The Director General of the Sharjah Special Education Authority, Ali Al -Hosani, said that the “Iqan” program is a basic pillar in the process of developing the special education in the Emirate of Sharjah, as it is not satisfied with monitoring the levels of performance, but also provides schools with an accurate road map to improve their educational and administrative practices, noting that the results of this course confirm the commitment of private schools in the emirate to quality standards, as well as their keenness to improve the level of academic achievement And the school environment.
In press statements, Al -Hosani stressed the importance of the participation of parents, students and teaching agencies in the evaluation, through the questionnaires that are published on all private schools, indicating that it represents a mirror that reflects the quality of the education provided, and the results of the analysis of its questionnaires are an important tool to help the authority in providing ways to improve, which contributes to raising the level of the performance of the educational system, in line with the best international education systems, considering them effective actors in developing the process Educational and its outputs, as basic partners in it, reflects positively at the student level.
The authority aims to implement its qualitative program “Iqan” to conduct a study study and evaluate the quality of private schools in the emirate to measure its effectiveness and mastery of school quality standards and distinguished educational practices, and to enable students to achieve development in academic, personal and social levels, and the program also aims to help schools in its journey towards continuous improvement through an external evaluation of their level of progress and its ability to achieve improvement, in addition to collecting The necessary data and evidence to develop educational policies, appropriate intervention plans and take development decisions in a manner that guarantees the efficiency of the educational system in the emirate.
“Iqan” is characterized by its inclusion of several supportive initiatives and programs, the most prominent of which is the school leadership program, which aims to enhance the skills of educational leaders in managing and improving the quality of education inside schools, where 25 training sessions were organized with a total of 50 training hours, which benefited 1,080 teachers, educational leaders and specialists.
It also includes the professional development program for teachers, which provides advanced training courses aimed at raising educational efficiency and enhancing effective educational practices. During the year 2022, the Authority organized a professional development week with 40 training sessions and 63 training hours, of which 1,600 teachers benefited, while the year 2023 witnessed a remarkable development represented in the implementation of 41 training sessions and 126 training hours, from which 2044 teachers benefited, and in 2024, the program focused on the quality of the content and its variety by organizing 16 training sessions with a total of 1145 training hours, of which 1145 benefited from A teacher, which reflects a sustainable approach in developing professional capabilities and promoting school performance.
These efforts are completed through the self -evaluation project for schools, which enables schools to evaluate their performance periodically, and helps them define the strengths and areas of improvement effectively in addition to following up the experts team periodically and throughout the school year to develop schools and upgrade the quality of their educational outputs.
