"Dubai Roads" It launches a project to develop Umm Saqim Street to raise the quality of urban life

Dubai, May 31 / WAM / The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai launched an integrated urban project to develop Umm Saqim Street from its intersection with Jumeirah Street to Al -Khail Street, with a length of six kilometers, with the aim of improving the flow of traffic, raising the capacity, and enhancing the quality of life in the areas that the project serves, in order to complete the current stage of the project, which extends from the intersection of Al -Khail Street to the intersection of Emirates Street.

The project, upon completion, achieves a free traffic movement from Jumeirah to Al -Qudra Street with a length of 20 km.

The project includes the development of six main intersections on Umm Suqeim Street with the streets of Jumeirah, Al -Wasl, Sheikh Zayed, the first horses, Asayel, and the horses, in addition to the implementation of four bridges and three tunnels with a total length of 4100 meters, the expansion of the street to four tracks in each direction, and preparing pedestrians developed, bicycle paths, and urban areas “Bolivard” to enhance societal interaction and connection Urban.

His Excellency Matar Al -Tayer, General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, stressed that the project of developing Umm Suqeim Street exceeds the scope of road expansion, and aims to improve the comprehensive infrastructure and raise the quality of urban life, where it serves the Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Al -Manara, Al -Safouh, Umm Al -Shef, Al -Barasha and Al -Rouz, and its population is more than two million people.

His Excellency pointed out that the project contributes to linking four main strategic axes in the emirate: Sheikh Zayed Street, Al Khail Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street and Emirates Street, and also contributes to increasing the capacity of Umm Suqeim Street to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, and reducing the trip time between Jumeirah and Horses from 20 minutes to 6 minutes.

His Excellency explained that the project includes the implementation of a tunnel with a capacity of two tracks in each direction at the intersection of Umm Suqeim Street with Jumeirah Street, with the construction of a superficial intersection governed by light signals, and the implementation of another tunnel with a capacity of two tracks from Sheikh Zayed Street towards Jumeirah Street at Umm Suqeim intersection with Al Wasl Street, with the provision of free surface traffic to Sheikh Zayed Street.

The two bridges will also be implemented at the intersection of Umm Suqeim with Sheikh Zayed Street to cancel the movements of traffic overlapping, and to create a tunnel at Umm Suqeim intersection with the first horse Street to serve the movement from Al Barsha to Sheikh Zayed Street, with the street expanding to four tracks between the first horse and Asayel streets.

The development of the Al -Khail Street intersection includes the implementation of two bridges: the first from Al -Khail Street to the Al -Quoz Industrial Zone, and the second from Umm Saqim Street to Al -Khail Street towards Deira.

Al -Tayer pointed out that the authority is currently implementing the previous stage of the project, which extends from the intersection of Al -Khail Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, with a length of 4.6 kilometers, and includes the construction of a tunnel with a length of 800 meters with a capacity of four tracks in each direction, at the intersection of Al -Barsha Street south, and the completion rate in this stage exceeded 70%, and it is scheduled to open in the third quarter of this year.

The authority also started implementing the project to develop intersections of Al -Qudra Street, which extends from its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street to Emirates Street, with a length of 11.6 km, and includes the implementation of bridges with a length of 2700 meters, to increase the absorptive capacity and reduce the trip time from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes, by developing main intersections such as the Arabs, Dubai Studio City and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, in addition to implementing service roads with a length of 3 km To link neighboring development projects, and expand Emirates Street to raise the efficiency of the linking with the surrounding areas.
