Germany is considering the possibility of confiscating Russian money frozen in favor of Ukraine

The head of the Berlin Chancellor Bureau, Torrestin Fry, called for an in -depth study of the issue of whether the frozen Russian government assets in the European Union can be confiscated in favor of Ukraine.
“Every sense of justice is to have a sense of justice, in light of the tremendous destruction and human suffering caused by Russia in Ukraine,” Fry said in statements to the German newspaper.
“We are currently witnessing the fiercest bombing since the outbreak of the war, so it is fair to use Russian funds for defense purposes,” Fry added.
On the other hand, Fry stressed the importance of the issue of the safety of investing foreign funds in the European Union or Germany, and said: “But in a situation that makes me say, we must consider the issue of Russian state’s money closely more than before”, explaining that if there is a desire to achieve the ceasefire by peaceful means, the available tools are limited, and he said: “So I strongly support the use of available tools.”
According to previous data for the European Commission, there are about 210 billion euros for the Russian Central Bank frozen in the European Union, most of which are at the Brussels Financial Foundation. The European Union has used benefits to finance arms and ammunition shipments to Ukraine, since the middle of last year.
Many in the European Union consider skepticism about the use of the funds of the Russian Central Bank directly, through an issue of confiscation, referring to legal concerns and the possibility of revenge measures. In 2023, Moscow warned the European Union against confiscating Russian state property or Russian citizens.
