5 healthy risks to breaking the diet suddenly during Eid days

The digestive system specialist, Dr. Naguib Salah Abdel Rahman, warned of five common health risks that might result from the sudden breakage of the “diet” diet during the Eid al -Adha holiday, or eating fatty and sugar meals in large quantities, especially for those who follow low -calorie diets for long periods.
He added that the groups most affected by sudden nutritional changes during Eid days are “chronic digestive system patients who suffer from irritable bowel or reflux, fatty liver patients, diabetes, and cholesterol, as well as those who performed obesity surgeries”, where they are affected by immediate health complications.
He explained that the common health risks as a result of the sudden breaking of “diet” include: –
Disturbances in the digestive system, such as bloating, indigestion, and esophageal reflux, as a result of eating heavy and fatty meals after a strict diet period.
– Increased storage of fat in the body, as the body deals with the diet as a “shock of deprivation” and begins to store excess calories in anticipation of any future dietary interruption.
Additional pressure on the liver and pancreas, due to excessive intake of sugars and fats, and the high possibility of immediate complications in irritable bowel, diabetes, cholesterol, and fatty liver.
A psychological disorder and a feeling of guilt, which may lead to emotional eating attacks or a complete discontinuation of the healthy diet.
Slowness in the metabolism process and digestive disorders as a result of the complete stopping of movement or sport during the days of Eid.
He emphasized those who wish to enjoy Eid food without losing his commitment, in moderation, and starting with light dishes such as salads or soup to reduce appetite, and determine a prior amount for each category, and it is preferable to choose grilled or cooked meat in healthy ways, while avoiding the combination of fats and sweets in the same meal.
He advised those who break the diet to gradually return to the diet, by allocating two days to eat mild foods and monitor physical changes, noting that common mistakes include resorting to starvation or excessive sport as a reaction, which leads to an additional metabolism disorder.
