"Abu Dhabi Arabic Language" .. Cultural and cognitive initiatives that support the dialogue of civilizations

Abu Dhabi, June 11/ WAM/ The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, through its various initiatives and projects, seeks to consolidate the role of the Arabic language in promoting fruitful and constructive dialogue between civilizations, in addition to its position as one of the most important languages ​​of communication at the global level.

The center’s initiatives are characterized by diversity and comprehensiveness, and focus on promoting cultural and cognitive dialogue between civilizations. The 34th session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which concluded last May, came to enhance the concept of comprehensive cultural exhibitions, by embracing more than 2000 various activities, and about 1,400 publishing houses from 96 countries.

The “Kalima” project was launched in 2007, with the aim of reviving the translation movement in the Arab world, and extending the bridges of cultural and civilizational communication between peoples, to form a bridge for dialogue, openness and human tolerance.

The center has succeeded, since its inception, in translating more than 1300 titles from 24 languages, in more than 10 cognitive classifications, in cooperation with more than 800 translators, and a group of global publishing houses, embodying the important role it plays in promoting dialogue between civilizations, as well as in promoting cognitive exchange.

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award is one of the most important independent literary and scientific awards, which contributes to supporting the cultural scene, enhancing the movement of publishing and translation, and honoring the creators, intellectuals and publishers for their achievements in the fields of authorship, research, writing and translation.

The award plays a pivotal role in highlighting cultural diversity and providing bridges of communication between civilizations, based on its vision aimed at enhancing dialogue and knowledge openness between peoples. The nineteenth session of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, which was organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, and the winners of last May, were honored by an unprecedented participation, exceeding 4000 nominations from 75 countries, including 20 Arab countries, with five participating countries registered for the first time, namely: Albania, Bolivia, Colombia, Trinidad, Tobago, Mali; What reflects the prestigious position that the award has on the international cultural scene, and its role in consolidating the position of the UAE as a global center for thought, culture and dialogue between civilizations, and an incubator for creators and researchers from around the world.

The award has become one of the most prominent literary and cultural awards in the Arab world since its inception in 2006, as it celebrates the exceptional achievements of thinkers and creators in Arabic and other languages, and honors the authors who contribute to enriching Arab culture with their distinguished literature in the fields of literature, humanities, translation, publishing, and development.

His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic, stressed that looking at dialogue in the context of civilizations and interaction between nations reflects the system of values ​​and ethics adopted by states, and the UAE’s assumption of dialogue between civilizations is a great priority, and focuses on creative dialogue, which leads to constructive interaction with nations, and leads to a mutual civilized giving.

His Excellency said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, “WAM”, that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan “may God rest his soul”, is a great interest in dialogue between civilizations, and the UAE today has become a unique model of human coexistence and harmony between different cultures, with the support and care of the wise leadership.

He added that the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center believes that the language is the real incubator of dialogue, pluralism, and coexistence, especially the Arabic language, with its civilizational values ​​that inspire, affect and encourage dialogue.

He said that from this concept, the center implements its various projects, which includes, for example, a “word” project, which gives the Arabic language vital and enhances its ability to creativity and innovation, as well as the center’s initiatives in the fields of research grants, authorship, and book exhibitions, foremost of which is the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which is an inspiring platform to enhance dialogue between civilizations.

It is worth noting that the United Nations General Assembly approved on June 10 of each year an international day for dialogue between civilizations.
