78 people were killed and 329 others were injured today as a result of the Israeli attack on targets in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The Iranian “Fares” news agency reported that the accurate statistics of the dead and the wounded will be announced through the official authorities.
Tehran and other Iranian cities have been subjected to a wide Israeli attack, and Iran has announced the killing of the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqri, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Hussein Salami, and a group of leaders of the Guard, nuclear and civilian scholars, in addition to targeting vital nuclear facilities and residential areas in the country.
In a related context, the Iranian “Mehr” news agency reported this afternoon that he had heard a number of explosions in the cities of “Kermanshah” and “Hamadan”, western Iran, near the “Nahad” air base.
On the other hand, Iran called on the UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to condemn the Israeli attacks that targeted its territory.
The Iranian News Agency, “IRNA”, stated that Amir Said Irwani, the permanent representative of Iran to the United Nations, sent an official and urgent message to the President of the Security Council, in which he strongly condemned the “Israeli attacks on his country’s nuclear facilities and senior military officials in Iran,” calling for firm measures towards these actions.
Irwani pointed out that “the deliberate attack on nuclear establishments constitutes an explicit violation of the physical protection agreement for nuclear materials, and the comprehensive guarantees agreement that Iran is committed to,” warning that “the continuation of such works may constitute a dangerous precedent and threaten global collective security.”
