The return of fixed and internet communication services in the Gaza Strip

& nbsp;
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced, this evening, Saturday, the start of a gradual return of fixed communications and the Internet to the governorates of Gaza and northern Gaza, after a break of five continuous days. The authority said in a statement, that the team’s team crews managed to fix part of the damage to the main paths of the network, after completing the necessary arrangements for their movement, despite the major challenges as a result of direct and continuous targeting by the Israeli occupation forces of the communications sector. She added: & quot; this targeting comes within a systematic policy aimed at isolating the sector digitally and technically from the outside world, which caused a almost complete collapse of the humanitarian and relief system, and affected the work of all vital sectors in Gaza & quot;. The authority emphasized that its efforts are continuing, at the full capacity of the local and international levels, to ensure that communications services are fully restored in all governorates and regions of the Gaza Strip, which contributes to supporting the steadfastness of citizens and securing the minimum life and basic services. In turn, the Palestinian Telecom Company announced that its crews are continuing to work under complex security conditions, with its utmost effort and within the available capabilities to restore services in the central and southern regions of the sector. Later, the company announced that its crews were able to restore fixed internet services and land communications in the central and southern Gaza Strip, after great efforts despite the difficult field conditions. The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy announced, last Thursday, a comprehensive interruption in fixed internet and communications services in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the failure of the main path of the optical fiber network that links the sector to the outside world, in addition to the disruption of alternative paths that have alternatively out of service during the last period, in light of the continued prevention of the occupation of technical teams from reaching the necessary maintenance work for restart. Since the occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023, telecommunications and Internet services have been interrupted several times from the sector or large areas of it, due to the intense Israeli bombing, or the running out of fuel used to operate the generators. & nbsp;
