Dubai, June 17/ WAM/ The Ministry of Health and Community Protection held a workshop entitled “Launching the National Policy to Combat Health Risks in the State”, with the wide participation of health authorities and relevant sectors.

The workshop aimed to introduce politics after its approval from the Council of Ministers, discuss the framework of the executive plan emanating from politics, and to enhance coordination between all partners concerned to ensure the integration of efforts with regard to combating health risks and achieving the vision and purposes of politics, which contributes to adopting a multi -sectors approach to preparation, preparation and confrontation of health risks, in response to the aspirations of the vision of “Emirates Celsius 2071”.

The workshop was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Salem Al -Darmaki, Advisor to His Excellency the Minister of Health and Community Protection, in the presence of representatives of the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management, the Presidency Bureau, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Ports Security, the General Authority for Civil Aviation, the Federal Authority for Nuclear Control, and the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, the Emirates Health Services Corporation, the Emirates Drug Corporation, the Dubai Health Authority, the Sharjah Health Authority, Dubai Health, Emirates University, and the Emirates Medical Association.

The workshop focused on governance frameworks to combat health risks, including building and supporting social, financial and administrative commitment, coordination on all levels through building effective national partnerships and networks, and developing policies and supportive legislation, and integrating health in all policies, as well as mechanisms of health risks in its stages that include prevention, preparedness, response and achieving recovery, by following the implementation of the national framework for management Health risks, determination, analysis, evaluation and early warning, in addition to ensuring response and controlling the health situation in cases of exposure to risk and health emergencies.

The workshop touched on strengthening the basic sustainable infrastructure for its health and logistics, the continuation of basic and vital health services during health emergencies, ensuring the availability of qualified health workforce in adequate numbers, and developing interventions to respond effectively to communicate with risks, reducing rumors, providing and analyzing data and statistics for risks in order to make decisions based on evidence, as well as enhance the research ability and create systems and management Innovation in the field of various health risks, as well as determining the most important improvements in the health sector and others, and developing the future planning process for health risk management.

His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Salim Al -Ulama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, stressed that the national policy to combat health risks in the UAE constitutes a strengthening of the national health emergency response system, which embodies a proactive vision that keeps pace with the aspirations of the wise leadership, and is in line with the aspirations of the UAE government in the continuation of developing a health sector capable of containing emerging challenges and a rapid response to health crises and emergencies.

The scientists pointed out that the ministry is working according to a system consistent with all governmental, private and academic bodies, local and international, in a framework that enhances the integration of roles and establishes a legislative and executive environment capable of achieving sustainable results. The policy focus on rational governance, institutional empowerment, and the raising of the efficiency of infrastructure constitutes a basic pillar to consolidate comprehensive national health security, by consolidating the role of community participation as a strategic tool for early detection, prevention of diseases, and achieving comprehensive readiness that guarantees the continuity of vital services under various circumstances, which supports the achievement of the Ministry’s strategy 2023-2026.

For her part, Dr. Lubna Al -Shaali, Director of Policy and Health Legislation Department at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, indicated that the implementation of the national policy to combat health risks will contribute to providing proactive guidance to develop the national capabilities necessary to respond to healthy events and risks and combat their effects in accordance with the latest global and national health practices and evidence and enhance more elastic health systems that are able to adapt to future crises through a national framework that establishes Integration between the authorities, and unites efforts.

Al -Shaali pointed out that this policy represents a strategic step that enhances building a flexible health system, which is based on health in all policies, and keeps pace with the Ministry’s strategy in achieving comprehensive and sustainable health security.

In turn, Dr. Fatima Al -Attar, Director of the International Health Regulations Office at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, explained that the accuracy of the periodic evaluation of health risks by strengthening early monitoring and detection systems, classifying these risks and identifying their sources will lead to enhancing readiness and improving response indicators, reducing death rates and rates of diseases related to emergency and health disasters and enhancing the continuity of comprehensive health coverage in the country.
