The UAE has established its world leading position by building strategic partnerships to create a better future for humanity

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al -Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Managing Director and CEO of ADNOC and its group of companies, Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors of “XRG”, stressed that the UAE, and thanks to the vision of wise leadership, has succeeded in establishing its world’s leading position through the approach to enhancing international cooperation and building strategic partnerships that contribute to creating a better future for humanity, especially in the areas of advanced technology.

Al -Jaber pointed out the need for the concerted efforts of energy, technology, financing and policies efficiently and effectively to take advantage of the important and exceptional investment opportunities provided by artificial intelligence.

This came in his speech at the ninth session of the “World Atlantic Energy Forum”, which is held in the American capital, Washington, in the presence of a number of the most prominent political officials and energy sector leaders.

Al -Jaber said that artificial intelligence constitutes the next stage of human development, stressing that meeting its requirements requires a qualitative shift in the energy sector policies and investments and its infrastructure, and that superiority in the field of artificial intelligence goes beyond the development of its software and colors and depends on the saving of the energy it needs, pointing out that every progress witnessed by the solutions and tools of artificial intelligence requires consuming more energy, and that the global energy system is not ready for that Currently, and that the United States of America needs a new electricity supply estimated at 50 to 150 GW by 2030 and according to the power source used to generate it, which is equivalent to the total consumption of dozens of major cities.

He referred to the comprehensive road map to deal with this challenge, which was placed in partnership between “XRG”, “MGX” and “Atlantic Council” and included recommendations to accelerate the issuance of licenses, modernize networks, and implement strategic investments in gas, nuclear energy and renewable energy sources, stressing that the development and operation of future technology cannot be done by relying on old electricity networks.

He added that the delay in issuing the necessary licenses and the challenges of supply chains hinder access to the required results in this field, pointing to the need to develop supportive policies for progress, and the importance of benefiting from the great opportunities available by adopting the partnership approach, explaining that following this approach contributed to strengthening the strong and comprehensive relationship that links the UAE to the United States across the various sectors.

He said: “The United States is among our priorities and for us a basic investment destination, and American companies are one of the largest oil privileges partners in the UAE, where they invest effectively in exploration, development and production, and also in refining, manufacturing and marketing. Emirati companies cooperate with American companies in 18 states through 50 facilities, in various areas of energy from gas and chemicals, to the infrastructure of the energy sector And its solutions.

And he added: “XRG is a key partner in the largest LNG facility in Texas, by producing chemicals specialized throughout the United States, and the operational capacity of Abu Dhabi Renewable Energy Company increased to 5.5 GB in various American lands, and this is only the beginning, and for more contribution to achieving our ambition, we recently opened a joint office for each of “XRG” and “Masdar” in Washington, DC.

He explained that any new data center can consume the same amount of electricity consumed by a city the size of Pittsburgh, and that meeting this demand represents a technical challenge, as well as an important and exceptional investment opportunity that requires achieving a comprehensive qualitative shift in which the efforts of the energy, technology, financing and policy sectors combine, and work together in a harmonious and effective manner.

He pointed out that meeting the needs of giant data centers require a significant increase in energy supply, and the benefit of reliable energy sources such as gas and nuclear energy to secure the basic load, as well as from renewable energy supported by the capabilities needed to store it.

He noted the importance of achieving fundamental progress in new technologies such as “small standard reactors” and “integration energy”, and also called for adopting a realistic and practical approach, which includes stopping the early closure of the current energy stations, in conjunction with the reactivation of nuclear energy.

He stressed the urgent need to develop the electricity network system, in light of the possibility of a waiting time to hand over some of the main components of networks, such as transformations, three years, explaining that the reason for this delay is not limited to supply chains, but rather is one of the basic challenges of industrial growth. And that taking advantage of the opportunities to develop electricity networks requires speeding up the issuance of licenses, rehabilitating the workforce, and reducing the risk of capital.

Dr. Sultan Al -Jaber added: “The technology sector operates according to a quarterly framework frameworks, while the energy sector works according to decades that extend for decades. We must address this gap by reducing the risks of large capital investments, developing policies that support progress and not delay it. At the present time, there is a planned production capacity around the world of 2600 GB need to be connected to networks, and we must remove obstacles to the implementation of this Expansion.

He pointed out that the generation of electricity is one aspect of the equation, as its delivery to the end user adds another level of complexity, stressing the need to train a million electrician technicians wanted to operate electricity networks in the twenty -first century, and to achieve the maximum possible benefit from the capabilities of artificial intelligence to contribute to raising the efficiency of energy systems management.

He touched on the current situation in the region and its impact on regional peace and energy security, and stressed that the UAE will always remain supporters of dialogue and diplomatic solutions to resolve conflicts and reduce escalation, and called on all parties to control and respect the sovereignty of states and adhere to international law.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Sultan Al -Jaber called for strengthening areas of cooperation to benefit from the tools and solutions of artificial intelligence and the promising economic opportunities he provides. He said that “the maximum benefit from the full capabilities of artificial intelligence requires the provision of the necessary electricity supplies to it, and this begins by preparing an integrated road map, whose steps can be applied at the local level and expanding the scope of its spread globally. We also need to develop supportive policies, develop an infrastructure that suits the required loads, and implement investments that keep pace with the requirements of the current stage.”
His Excellency added that artificial intelligence and energy twins contribute to the progress of humanity, and two motors pushing the wheel in one direction to accelerate the launch towards the future.
