The ruler of Sharjah chairs the meeting of the Board of Trustees of Al Dhaid University
Sharjah, June 18 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, President of Al Dhaid University, praised the efforts of the University’s Board of Trustees, for the achievements they have achieved during the previous period, indicating that many institutions start with agricultural science projects and food security projects, but they collide with challenges such as the lack of facilities that support academic studies, and students receive theoretical study only, And they take the practical side from the outside.
This came during the presidency of His Highness the meeting of the Board of Trustees of Al Dhaid University, today, at the university’s headquarters, adding that Al Dhaid University provides all the ingredients that qualify students in theory and practical, through the availability of colleges and programs specialized in this field, including the College of Agriculture and the College of Veterinary, in addition to the facilities that support the educational process such as laboratories, farms and taboos.
His Highness the President of Al Dhaid University stressed that these steps have largely contributed to the production of organic products free of industrial materials and chemicals in the markets, such as Mleiha Albani, Gras products, Seven Sanabel Wheel and other products that we are proud to be from the United Arab Emirates, specifically in the Emirate of Sharjah.
His Highness revealed that the collection of seeds had begun by His Highness since 1973, and His Highness classified the seeds that he collects and there are seeds of extinct plants in the state deserts, and His Highness also established the seed bank to preserve the plant species and their genetic diversity for the future, and it includes about 5 million seeds, explaining that His Highness is that such seeds are present in Britain as a reserve.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah approved the transfer of the seed bank to be among the facilities of Al Dhaid University, with the aim of developing scientific research and scientific laboratories, and enhancing the skills of students of the Faculty of Agriculture at the university through practical training for students in the bank.
The meeting of the Board of Trustees of Al Dhaid University started with the adoption of the establishment of two new colleges within the academic system, namely: College of Computing and Smart Systems, and the College of Environmental Sciences, within the framework of expanding in modern specializations that meet the requirements of the labor market and keep pace with the directions of sustainable development and artificial intelligence, and the council also adopted the introduction of the double program for sustainable agriculture baccalaureate, in cooperation with the Royal University of Agriculture in the United Kingdom, in a way Preparing qualified cadres in the areas of food security and modern agriculture.
The Council approved the results of the reports of the financial and academic committees, internal audit and commitment, and the Financial Resources Development Committee, which reflects its work during the last period, in addition to following up the progress of the teaching, research and administrative process.
The Council discussed a set of topics related to the administrative and educational aspects at the university, and reviewed a number of periodic reports related to the performance of the university, and Dr. Aisha Ahmed Busheleby, Director of Al Dhaid University, reviewed the report of the executive summary of activities and achievements for the academic year 2024-2025, in addition to the developments of work and the teaching process and the most important achieved results, in order to implement the university’s goals and achieve its aspirations.
On the sidelines of the meeting of the Board of Trustees, His Highness the President of Al Dhaid University visited the students of male and female students at the university, during which he met a group of female students, identifying His Highness on the specifications of the two comfort that were designed to provide a suitable academic environment for male and female students, and accommodates one break 100 people, as well as a cafe that provides snacks and drinks.
His Highness was briefed on the expansion plans for the university projects that are being implemented, including veterinary laboratories, stadiums and sports halls, the experimental farm and barn scheme that serves students of agricultural and animal specializations, in addition to the service facilities that students benefit from during their studies at the university.
His Highness, President of Al Dhaid University, expressed the Sharjah Products Exhibition, which is held at the university’s headquarters, which contains the products of Jabal Al -Dim, such as sectarian roses, Muhammadi rose, honey, olives, with its derivatives, apples, thyme, and rosemary, in addition to the products of the Sharjah Agricultural and Animal Production Foundation, “Serious”, watching His Highness the latest products of “Gras” from vegetables and fruits and their derivatives of natural jams and sauces They are used in cooking, Flei birds and seven baked goods such as Arabic bread, pasta, and milk and milk Maliha.
After the meeting, His Highness held a lunch for the members of the Board of Trustees of Al Dhaid University, which was prepared from the goods of Sharjah, such as veal meat from the Mleiha Cows farm, cheese from the goat farm, poultry from the Flei bird farm, fruits and agricultural greenhouse vegetables in Al Dhaid, bread and mashing from wheat farms.
